Well found, fellow Realm travellers.
I'm in the early stages of planning an 'all paladin' campaign set in the Realms and would like both advice and opinions.
Right now the elements I've decided on are:
All characters will start as novices, with a couple of levels in non-paladin classes (skills and abilities aquired in their lives before deciding to join the order)they'll have to 'earn' their paladinhood through training, learning and undergoing trials (phisical, mental and moral, of course).
They will be paladins of Kelemvor (a deity I think isn't much esplored but has a lot of potential), as an house rule I'm going to allow both the canonical 'lawful good' and 'lawful neutral' alignements.
My questions: is there any 'canon' kelemvorite order of paladins?
Where in the Realms you think such a campaign could better be run?
Sorry if my questions might sond naive, but my access to 'canon' material is rather limited, thank you for any opinion.

Well met and welcome to Candlekeep!
The Paladin order dedicated to Kelemvor is called the Eternal Order. I'm not really sure if there are any others.
Information about them can be found in Champions of Valor. There are 3 racial subsititution levels for this Paladin Order as well that give them a bit of a different feel than the standard Paladin.
Another Class/Prestige Class that you might want to check out is the Doomguide in Faiths and Pantheons.
As for locations of the members... I really don't know. I suppose followers of Kelemvor can be found anywhere in the realms. |

I would actually stick to an all knight campaign rather than all paladin. One of the great things as a DM regarding a kelemvor centered campaign is that his worshippers span the spectrum of good, evil, and neutrality.
I'd stick with divine champions and doomguides for neutral followers.
It's one of the few religions in which a follower could hypothetically go from paladin to anti-paladin while still remaining true to his/her god.
There are still lawful evil followers and temples of Kelemvor that converted to his worship from Myrkul.
One could easily see a single-minded paladin of Kelemvor, dedicated to eradicating Faerun of all undead -- including Baelnorns, becoming twisted by his pursuit to the path of evil.
Just as easily, a paladin stationed with some of the evil followers of Kelemvor could be seduced over to the dark-side.
It may be interesting playing with the shades of white, black, and grey morality within this religion.

I don't know, but as far as I understood the Paladin, he is the "purest good" character class. If a paladin falls from Good, he would turn to some kind of black Doombringer of Death Knight, but I would not let a Paladin become "gray" Maybe a bit too overzealos, but never evil!
Remember black is absence of light and white light is the combination of all colours, therefore white and black cannot exist beside to each other, one will always quench to other - pure white includes no (whatever small) parts of black (as black is the absence of light)!
If you want to have "grayish" Champions of a deity, I would rather recommend the Priest, Crusader or Monk Character Class. They don't have to be purely good and have no strict code of goodness as a paladin!

I suppose that since you want them to be lawfull good or lawfull neutral, you wouldn't be interested in the variant paladin's for chaotic good, chaotic evil and lawful evil presented in the Unearthed Arcana, but I personally find them very useful and relevent. |
