In my campaign, the PCs have put Jarwain Evensword (Cult of the Dragon agent in Ashabenford, working as an exotic goods importer) in touch with the dragon egg salesmen in the dwarven town of Glen. Jarwain wants to secure eggs for the Cult of the Dragon, but doesn't want to do this directly. Some War Wizards from Cormyr wanted to buy eggs as well, and Jarwain is going to set up the exchange between the merchants and the War Wizards, and then let the Cult ambush the War Wizards for the eggs and the dwarves for the gold.

The question is, are there any other hooks that can be tied to this plotline, and how can I get the PCs involved. The Cult of the Dragon is one of the few power groups the PCs haven't ticked off, so I want the meeting to be memorable. Let me know if you have anything to add to this plot event, and thanks!

Hello-

Well - if the Dwarves are not the sellers (i.e. - someone else bought them quickly - and is looking to resell) y ou could have the New sellers (whomever they be) go ahead and sell the eggs to the War Wizards - with the intent of double-crossing them and ambushing them to steal the eggs back, possibly even for re-sale.

Also - if people are generally aware of the sale - some other interested people/groups might be: Zhents, Red Wizards, Some Mage from Halruaa, or even the Twisted Rune. On a non-evil list of interested parties - maybe some Gond-worshippers from Lantan, or even some Dragons who want the eggs returned to their own kind.....

I almost equate this with Shandril and her Spellfire - if word gets out - Lots of people will want to obtain the eggs for their own reasons.

Hope that helps some. Oh - I just thought too - its possible that the eggs are fakes too - maybe eggs of some larger dinosaur from Chult or Maztica - meant to deceive would-be buyers out of their coins!

Lastly - I have to say that there are some wonderful ideas percolating around in your head!

I am collecting the D&D Minis. I would be more than willing to trade with people. You can send me a PM here with your email listed - and I can send you my minis list. Thanks!

Successfully traded with Xysma!

Thanks for the compliment! The dwarves that sell the eggs are a story element from Volo's Guide to the Dalelands. Its suppose to be secret, and the PCs found out about it, then passed on the information that they COULD find dragon eggs to Jarwain, then after finding out that he wanted to sell them, ostensibly to War Wizards, they went to the dwarves and more or less vouched for Jarwain (ouch) to the dwarves. So the dwarves are at least business associates of the dwarves that actually get the eggs from the dragons.

I agree, the PCs would freak if they thought that other nefarious power groups might find out about the dwarves and the eggs . . . they would also be worried about the dwarves feeling betrayed by them as well. I think it might indeed be an interesting plot thread to have them find out that a Zhent spy has also learned about he eggs (perhaps a double agent within the Cult?).

Wait, I know . . . Arvien Blackhair could figure into this incident somehow . . . I've been trying to get her involved as well, since the PCs live in Ashabenford. Maybe she will use her whiles on the barbarian.

I like the fake eggs thing, and a magical spell will aid in this deception too . . . I just have to think now on how to involved the fake eggs. Maybe an uscrupulous dwarf within Glen . . .

Thanks for the ideas . . . I love new ideas!

Greetings

This entire plotline could become a tragic tail, just after the deal has been made, but just before the eggs have been delivered, a single encounter with a family of egg sucking Dire Weasels. If the weasels could get to the egg unnoticed the party might not notice that the egg had been drained until there arrival at the exchange. That could get ugly sounds like fun.
