I find that a tough question to answer as I have been really pleased with pratically all of the FR stuff released for 3E/3.5E.
I would find a way to include Unapproachable East in your list as I have found that to be one of the most inspirational books released, insofar as inspiring ideas for campaigns; ditto for Underdark (although it is already on your list). |

Forgotten Realms Campaign Setting Lost Empires of Faerun City of Splendors: Waterdeep Races of Faerun Silver Marches Serpent Kingdoms Shining South Magic of Faerun Champions of Valor Champions of Ruin
No rankings, though.
The ones not on that list either add little to 2e material I have(Lords of Darkness) or are just rules updates(the Player's Guide to Faerun). |

I'm not going to make a list just because it wouldn't be doing some of the books justice, but I've enjoyed the campaign setting, Champions of Valor and City of Splendors books the most. I honestly didn't like the player's guide at all. It's pretty necessary to at least have the Guide at hand, I didn't find it all that enlightening: I thought more of just a rehash of the campaign setting. |

BTW y'all this isn't a first to worst list but rather the books you find most useful when running your games etc. My list of books are the ones that affect me most and the books I get the most use out of. |

I'd suggest that there's one essential book:
Forgotten Realms Campaign Setting. An absolute necessity for anyone using the Forgotten Realms.
The ones I find most useful as a player:
Players Guide to Faerun. It may not be an outstanding book, but I don't believe players can manage without it. Races of Faerun. Even without as much information as it could have, it's a great improvement on the other race material. Magic of Faerun. A good "feel" for magic in the Realms Champions of Valour and/or Champions of Ruin. Aspirational. And a look at what some of your powerful enemies might be like.
For DMs:
Lost Empires of Faerun. So much of the Realms is built around it's history that I don't think you can manage without this as a source of lore and inspiration for adventures. Lords of Darkness. Meet the bad guys. Faiths and Pantheons. Though I think most players would find this useful too. Silver Marches. Maybe not the best of the regional sourcebooks, but it's an interesting area and it's where the campaign I'm DMing plays, so I'm allowed to be biased in it's favour. |
These, in the day when heaven was falling, The hour when earth's foundations fled, Followed their mercenary calling And took their wages and are dead.
Their shoulders held the sky suspended; They stood, and earth's foundations stay; What God abandoned, these defended, And saved the sum of things for pay. |

My Top 10 would be:
1)Forgotten Realms Campaign Setting (First place is a no brainer) 2)Silver Marches (Best Regional Expansion. Ever! Nice Fluff) 3)Magic of Faerūn (To bring even more wonders to a wonderful world) 4)Players Guide to Faerūn (3.5 Crunchy Crunch) 5)Faiths and Pantheons (Realms without gods, pardon me, powers? no way!) 6)Races of Faerūn (Yep, need that to play, and to build better NPCs, nice flavour, a lot of stuff on humans and culture, good book) 7)Lords of Darkness (Bad Guys, oh yeah, and a lots of them, plus where tey're hanging out) 8)Lost Empires of Faerūn (a bag of holding of campaign ideas for burned out DMs, nice history update) 9)City of Splendors:Waterdeep (one of my realms "wannabethere"-places, love that book) 10) Monsters of Faerūn (outdated for being 3E, but still fun to read, nice pics)
because those are the books I use primarily. For the following I have hardly found a use yet (although most of the material ain't bad, don't get me wrong):
Dungeon Masters Screen (never really had much use for it)
Unapproachable East (I'd definitely would love to get my players there, very good book) Underdark (environment too deadly, supplement too disappointing) Serpent Kingdoms (nice race related info, but for my campaign, no thanks) Shining South (never had the chance to get my players to go there - maybe too exotic)
Champions of Ruin (Some nice ideas for a DM to exploit, but not much for me) Champions of Valor (too good for my taste) |

Sorting out 10 products over 20 can be unfair, anyone interested in a top10 all-editions product ? |
