Behind the name I stated which status they have.
L = Lesser Deity
I = Intermediate Deity
G = Greater Deity

I'm sorry it's all so messed up, but if you want to know even more gods (also the dwarven gods!), you'd either have to buy 'Faiths & Pantheons' or ask someone else.

Kahonen mentioned in his post on his views of the FRCS (http://www.candlekeep.com/forum/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=46) that history has changed with 3rd edition FR and something about the change of Waukeens status. What exactly has changed with Waukeen?

I'm not sure. I downloaded Faiths & Pantheons and where Waukeen is supposed to be is a very large picture which is to big to be shown on the screen. So I can't see Waukeen stats, so I used them from the 2nd ed. I don't think much has changed though.

I believe that Cyric killed Bane before becoming a god. He then became a god at the same time as Mystara and Kelemvor. Depending on your point of view, this may not count as it was during the Time of Troubles.

Actually Kahonen, you are totally wrong. Just recently I read the Avater trilogy so it's still fresh in my memory. First it was the pure essence of Mystra (then a magic-elemental) that destroyed Bane's avatar (not his essence). His essence was than saved by Myrkul (still god of the dead then) and he used Fzoul Chembryls body as an avatar. After Fzoul was no longer needed he stored al his essence into an amber statue which he made come alive. He went to Tantras (where his tablet of faith was hidden) and fought Torm. They killed each other (though Torm was restored to life by Ao and Bane wasn't because he stole the Tablets of Faith from Ao). So Cyric did not kill Bane and he never will. It was Cyric who killed Bhaal, Lord of Murder in the Times of Trouble. And Midnight, the whore, destroyed Myrkul on top of Blackstaff tower. Than both Cyric and Midnight (Kelemvor was killed by Cyric on top of Blackstaff tower during the fight with Myrkul) became gods. Kelemvor became a god in the book "Prince of Lies", which is a sequel to the Avatar trilogy. After Cyric was overthrown due to a rebellion in Hades, Kelemvor was chosen god by the citizens of Hades (which of course is the realm of the dead). This happened about ten years after the Times of Trouble and therefore did not happen at the same time.

To answer you question about gods changing their shapes and sizes, king-tiax, they are gods after all. They can do pretty much everything they desire. Their powers are somewhat limited by Ao, but yes they can change their shapes and sizes.

Nothing is impossible!

The Top God is Ao. He is the creator of the gods. Of the gods themselves I say it's Bane. Bane is the coolest! The second best is, well me!

My last post wasn't exactly accurate. Even Ao has a master. I don't know who though. If someone does know, please tell me. And don't come with that cr*p about Ed Greenwood being Ao and WotC/TSR being the master of Ed Greenwood.

Ao doesn't act as a god himself though. He's more of a supervisor. He sees to it that the gods perform their duties and corrects them if they do not. That is, if the other greater gods don't correct the god/goddess in question. For example, Cyric, Mystra (the whore) and Kelemvor stood trial before the counsil of the greater gods. The charge was that the weren't performing their duties properly.

At the end of the Avatar Trilogy (which I highly recommend), after all of the new deities are named (Mystra and Cyric, namely), Ao returns to his home plane. After a few moments of rest he assures what I believe is referred to as a higher consciousness that his own branch of the universe is now well and in hand...Ao refers to him/she/it as "Master".

Beyond that, I don't believe anyone really knows...

Oh, and Tiax...my my....there are indeed Dwarven Gods....

A few of them:

Moradin, Clangeddin, Dumathoin, Brightmantle, Abbathor...there are many more.

It surprises me you ask that question...Bruenor inscribes Aegis Fang with the symbols of Clangeddin and Dumathoin...

And...you REALLY should invest in a copy of Faiths and Avatars...it lists ALL of the gods, their pantheons, their personalities...it's a WONDERFUL resource....(by the by, Tyr is the god of Justice...Waukeen is Trade, Money and Wealth....but she may or may not be dead...)

I would think Ao is the strongest, but im not sure, can anyone tell me who the top dragon god is? and is he powerfull? i forget his name.
Lloth is pretty strong but i dont like her, Azuth, or maybe Mystra might whoop alot of ass. Bane is pretty tough too. I bet Cyric or maybe Tempus are strong too.

Rumor has it (see the REALMS-L FAQ on this site - http://www.candlekeep.com/fr_faq.htm (question 2.7)) that the higher power who Ao speaks to at the end of the Avatar Trilogy is actually the reader\the DM!

Yeah I know its a bit corny

If there is any greater power than Ao (personally, I always see Ao as THE very top), then there will be other gods of his level for other universes (which are well beyond the scope of a Realms campaign).

The most powerful dragon god was Io, in 2nd ed at least. I believe that Tiamat is the most powerful dragon-god, in 3rd ed.

If I'm correct Ao was assigned to the Realm of Toril (which Faerun is only a part of) as uppergod. There might just be other Ao's, assigned to different dimension/worlds/galaxies. If we leave out Rad's (I know it's not your personal view, but you were the one he mentioned it) perspective about the reader being the Master of Ao, he/she/it/whatever is all powerful. Unless of course that being also has a master, etc.

But that's what Rad already said. Sorry, guess I didn't read it too well.

I must disagree with you on some views Drizzt. First of all, Bane is the coolest without question (for me anyway). Second of all, Mystra is not called the Whore/Harlot for nothing. She can't even perform her tasks right. Tempus is a muscle-head, but I kind of like him. Azuth is just a Mystra-wannabe (which makes him a loser as well). Mask is cool on the other hand. I like his way of thinking. He's allways out trying to trick the other gods into his schemes, and by doing so trying to gain more power. Unfortunately, his plans don't allways turn out like they're supposed too.

I like the story about Lloth and Corellon Larethian though. First they're lovers and then they are each others worst enemies. The classic story I guess.

Nothing is impossible!

Eh....never was crazy about Bane....he always managed to mess things up....ya know....he kinda just let Kelemvor go....battled a god waaaaay beyond his own strength, etc. Although I am very intrigued by his resurrection and that whole Xvim thing....

I think Cyric is much more intriguing...much more flawed (mad), much more dangerous....

However, I have to agree with the previous post: the elven pantheon is WONDROUS....particularly Larethian..........Elaine Cunningham's novel Evermeet is on par with Salvatore's Homeland in my opinion...if you haven't read it.....READ IT.....the relationships of the elven pantheon are completely drawn out and easily some of the greatest stories ever conceived in Faerun...

Plus...Larethian could take Bane.....Bane is just an overblown Gruumsh.....
