Big Al, what happened to the stone-finish backgrounds of the Candlekeep forums?

Is this change part of the new additions you alluded to a few weeks ago?

Egad? I was just hoping my computer decided not to load the background.

This does cause a major clash.

Well met

Worry not. 'tis not permanent, i'm merely experimenting over the next day or so I'll tone it back down for now, but the old "stone-finish" background will be going as part of a different color scheme.

For what it's worth, I liked the dark background... But then, I'm one who prefers dark colors over bright ones. I'm not a goth or anything, but my favorite color is black.

That's a relief . While I'm not totally averse to the new scheme, it is a tad too bright. A tone down would be better... and if you're keeping the older background, well so much the better .

I agree with you, keep the darker colors. I can't stand bright colors when looking at my moniter, they make me flinch.

I am, trust me, I am. I just woke up and went, "GAH! Bright light! Bright light!," like a gremlin would. :)

It seems that the names and the links to the profiles have changed the color as well.... or is it only mine?

I am not against changing the background, but would agree to keep it a bit a dark one. The colors of the forum frames could do with a little makeover IMO, the off-white, beige (or whatever one would call these colors) feel a bit... old.

Indeed, Thelonius. The "in forum" link color has been changed to a darker blue. I personally think it looks a little smarter.

The color scheme, for me, is to give a theme of parchment and such...this being a library of sorts. I would still like to keep this particular theme but certainly feel that the background makes it all look a little dated.

Of course, this will all be reviewed when v2.0 of the site proper is nearing completion At which time, i'll likely put colors and themes to the vote.

Can I just butt in and say - don't change the background!! Dated or not, 'tis one of the most appealing features of the site (in my eyes) at least. Additionally, I'll chime in with those who has stated a preference for darker colours on their screens.

There is a rumour going around that I have found god. I think is unlikely because I have enough difficulty finding my keys, and there is empirical evidence that they exist.

I like 'em too, it makes the site more sober...

Well met

Thank ye, Winterfox, i'm glad ye think so

Speaking of "blue", any thoughts on changing the lighter blue color of the text which appears on the background? Whilst blue is a text color which runs throughout the Candlekeep site, I wonder if it actually might look better as a lighter color on the forum.

I really like this blue, it contrasts perfectly with the background, and keeps the image of the site just fine... And it would be difficult to find a "readable" color with this background (white is not an option!!)
