Howdy,
I realize that since I'm very new here, I could very well just be missing something obvious to everyone else, but for the life of me, I'm a bit overwhelmed by the search link here in Candlekeep. In trying to do some research on some of the lesser gods of the Realms, I noticed that there are almost countless pages for perusal, but a good share of them contain only quotes or exclamations. For example; If you type in Lurue, you get a couple hundred different pages to go through that contain Lurue being mentioned somewhere for some reason. Now, at the risk of offending Wooly Rupert, all but seven or eight of the pages only mentioned Lurue through some sort of exclamatory remark . The good thing is that I'm relatively sure that if someone were to ask me what I thought about how Wooly Rupert felt about Lurue, I could give an intelligent response. Unfortunately, those pages didn't tell me anything about Lurue personally. Anyway, without access to much of the literature of the realms at hand, I was hoping that someone could help me to narrow a search to exclude the less informative pages on a particular topic. Is there something that I'm missing or do I need to go buy a bunch of new books?

If the rest of humanity were only as smart as my familiar......

Well met

Erm, what was the question again?

Indeed, search results can reveal many entries. All I can suggest is that ye enter a number of specific words in thy search. Again, this can be a little hit and miss but unfortunatly it is merely the way the search facility functions.

Sorry I can't be of any further help.

I have also had the same problem. I found I got more results by asking the people on forum, you people are great.

Die, die, die ,die, die, why won't you just die you silly dragon!

I appreciate ANY kind of imput. I'm really not criticizing anything or anyone. Apparently one has to first know what one wants to know before looking for the answers. Is that vague enough?

Have I mentioned that I like Lurue?

Seriously, if your search of existing threads fails to reveal the knowledge you seek, feel free to create a new thread asking your question(s). We just encourage people to use the search function to keep from having duplicate threads.

Big Al, is there anything that can be done to narrow down search results? With some threads, like Ed's, knowing that there's a hit somewhere in the thread isn't tremendously helpful. If we could get search results narrowed down to specific pages, it would help our seekers of lore a lot more.

Thanks Wooly Rupert. That's almost exactly what I was failing to specify in my question. I loved reading all the questions to Ed and Elaine, but to get through 37 pages just to find something mentioned out of context was getting frustrating.

That's why I gathered Ed's, and other's, replies and made a table of contents for them and gave them to Alaundo. :)

For some of us, books are as important as almost anything else on earth. What a miracle it is that out of these small, flat, rigid squares of paper unfolds world after world, worlds that sing to you, comfort and quiet and excite you... Books are full of the things that you don't get in real life - wonderful, lyrical language, for instance, right off the bat. - Anne Lamott, Bird by Bird

Which can help some with Ed's answers, however does nothing for other discussions.

I did ask sometime ago if search engine could be modified to showing page numbers of a thread as oposed to just saying somewhere in this multipage thread the word(s) you are searching can be found here.

I know coding is posible on some sites, I however do not know if the coding for this forom can be adapted to a more filtered result of a search request.

"Small beings can have small wisdom," the dragon said. "And small wise beings are better than small fools. Listen: Wisdom is caring for afterwards."
"Caring for afterwards ...? Ker repeated this without understanding.
"After action, afterwards," the dragon said. "Choose the afterwards first, then the action. Fools choose action first."

Well met

I'll take a look and see if anything can be done. Don't expect any results by the morrow though!

Now be generous Wooly One, give him until saturday at least

There is a rumour going around that I have found god. I think is unlikely because I have enough difficulty finding my keys, and there is empirical evidence that they exist.
