He was the one older artist that hadn't returned that I wished would have for 3e... |

Oh, this is said news indeed. In fact, I was just reading the details from EN World before I got here.

When I was younger, I used to pride myself on being able to tell artists without looking at the signatures. The level of detail and the intricate way that Parkinson did things made his work facinating to look at. His "Gods of Lankhmar" picture always springs to mind, all the little baubles around the necks of the creatures, all the intricate metal plates. Then again maybe I remember him fondly exactly becuase this particular painting helped bring to life some of the iconic characters from one of my favorite series of books.

Hello-
I too am saddened by this. I too could often tell the artist before seeing the signature.
I remember at one Gen Con - probably about `15 years ago - when Michael Whelan was artist Guest of Honor - that he was heard to say of Keith's work that it was simply marvelous - something truly grand coming from one as esteemed as he is.
I think I am most fond of some of Keith's post-TSR work that he did for other companies. That link frovided has one of them - Northwatch - truly a great piece of art, and it appears to be a great miniature now too!
Truly - the realm of Deneir is improved upon now.

Well met
This is indeed very sad news. I have a tome with a great many of Keith's fine pieces of work within. The "Northwatch" piece is actually one of my most favorite pictures. I have this as a large print as it made such an impact on me.
An amazing artist who will be missed greatly. Our thoughts go out to his friends and family. |

I was saddened to hear the news of Keith's passing. I was fortunate enough to have met him at Gen Con several years ago and remember how passionate he was about his work. After meeting him, I had always been a fan of both the artist and his artwork.
By all indications, Keith was loved and admired by his peers and the gaming community. He will be sorely missed. His magnificent artwork will serve as a reminder of his life, as well as an inspiration to the artists of the future. Thoughts and prayers to his family, friends, and all of his fans.
Peace be with him. Hopefully he is teaching art classes in the hereafter.  |
