Thanks Sage for the reply, that is what I had figured because I had never seen people post an image (such as in the new cover art posts etc). |

Not a problem Beezy .
Alaundo has considered such a function in the past, but as I recall, the current forum software makes the application of such a function difficult.

And who knows what random pictures might show up in posts?
Scary thought.

Well met
Indeed, I have given this some thought. It is actually quite simply to apply but as CrennenFaerieBane states, it may result in some, ahem, "non-Realms" images appearing. Some images may also be over-sized and cause increased loading times for the forum. I prefer URL links to images, it's much easier on the eyes. |

The closest that I can describe it, is a combination of being burned and cut at the same time. I had myself psyched up so much for the first one, knowing it would hurt, that it wasn't that bad (on the side of my leg, mid calf). My second one is on the shoulder cap of my left arm, and it hurt alot more than the first, but it is really big (a black panther with dragon's wings), lol. |

Also, try to stay away from your back to your spine. All those nerve endings in your back really hurt when getting tat'd on your back. Luckily, I enjoy, am used to, pain because of my kidney stones. |
For some of us, books are as important as almost anything else on earth. What a miracle it is that out of these small, flat, rigid squares of paper unfolds world after world, worlds that sing to you, comfort and quiet and excite you... Books are full of the things that you don't get in real life - wonderful, lyrical language, for instance, right off the bat. - Anne Lamott, Bird by Bird

Both my daughters want to get one, and I figure I'm gonna have to be holding hands for those. Unless when they go with me for my next one (3 roses, one for me, and one for each of them, and they pick the color ), and they see how much it actually does hurt and what is involved, they may change their mind. |

I told her if she cried she wouldn't get icecream. :)
Actually, she did well and Crennen was a stud for holding her hand and taking the pain with her. He even got two tatoos to show her how easy it was. |

Nice, lol. My oldest wanted to go on her 18th b-day (in March) to get one, but I think I've gotten her convinced to wait a bit. |

:) I went through about 10 designs before I decided on the Celtic Knot on my leg, and the artist drew 2 versions for the panther on my arm before I decided, lol.

Its always a good idea to draw it first and get used to it being there. I still sometimes forget I have the ones I do.
I think we should post the tats somewhere though. Umm...Crennen??? |

Scyulla probably has one as well, or perhaps she still has a Tyr one on to mock her former days?
C-Fb
Fzoul's brand was marked on him when he was remade by the fiery destruction of his original body. When you're feeling every nerve while being reconstructed from the least shred of flesh up, the tattoo was nothing.
And I envision that it's a massively detailed mark dominating his left shoulder/deltoid and with every variation of Bane's marks over time encircling it--similar to a Maori/Samoan story tattoo that spreads a bit down his arm and around his left shoulder.
But that's just my opinion, not official lore.
The guy you have to admire for his brand/tattoo is Teldorn Darkhope, who had his face unwillingly branded by Fzoul with Xvim's/Bane's hand a few years ago. After seven years, I think it's now safe for him to smile without his lips bloodily cracking open. He just chooses not to now out of habit. |

Hmm I guess Scyllua could have a Banite tattoo (Banes clergy do after all have a history of using facial tattoos) Scyllua could also have had a Tattoo from her service to Tyr perhaps a Tattoo of the symbol of whatever Paladin order she belonged to before she was corrupted. |

I am not sure I will ever get a tattoo myself, but the topic wonders me once in a while.
If I ever take one, I always some myself getting a tattoo from Lord of the Rings (the elven inscription of the Ring for example) but never thought of a tattoo from the Realms.
I want to know what other people experience and what they recommend, so that if I decide I will take one one day, i will know extactly what I want and what it will take to get one.

Well, I would get something that you really identify with from the Realms. I really love the Drow, so I want the Baenre House Symbol (as they are like an everlasting symbol of the Drow in FR). That or a big ole picture of Lolth - ok, probably not that.

I don't know... I still like the idea of having a popular mage's sigil tattoo somewhere on one's body.
Although, a thought just struck me now that having some illithid qualiths sketched on one's form would make for an interesting tattoo .

I'm telling you, the Moonstar symbol. |

Hey, I thought that was your tattoo, RF. I wouldn't want to copy. You could get it on your ankle, even. You could always just do it in Henna to see what it would be like first.
