Has anyone got, or can anyone point me in the direction of a decent system for randomly generating weather?

The only one I can find at the moment is for The Moonshae Isles and it seems that it's permanently raining, snowing or foggy there

If possible it should take into account the time of year and area, it doesn't have to be realms specific - I'll modify it if necessary.

Thanks.

Try weathermaster, by mileu.com, I believe. I run it on my laptop during gaming sessions and it does great.

..If the afore mentioned systems don't work, I personally have made use of a program I downloaded right here off of Candlekeep which generates all kind of neat stuff concerning Waterdeep...It's called the Waterdeep Events Generator...and if I am not mistaken I do believe it does indeed generate weather...

Good luck.

My latest Realms-based short story, about a bard, a paladin of Lathander and the letter of the law, Debts Repaid. It takes place before the "shattering" and gives the bard Arion a last gasp before he plunges into the present.http://candlekeep.com/campaign/logs/log-debts.htm

I wrote The Waterdeep Events Generator - it doesn't generate weather.

Thanks for the kind words about the program though

Did you make all of the candlekeep downloadable programes.

My name is Tiax, I would ask yours but I don't care to become aquainted with the dead.

Kahonen (a.k.a. Ron Pearsall) has written many programs which are very useful for using in your campaign, and has very kindly offered them to be hosted by Candlekeep. You can find all Kahonen's utilities available for download in the "Wondrous Treasures" section of "Alaundo's Library" (located at http://www.candlekeep.com/library/treasures.htm).

Keep an eye out for the latest developments from Kahonen, due to hit the site within the next day or so!

Kahonen/Ron have you been able to find a decent weather generator tool? I checked the Candlekeep download page, but other then some very nice and nifty tools, I couldn't find a weather generator yet.

Heh, I might have to resort to building something in excel or access to torment those unfortunate adventurers in the Silver Marches.

Not yet but I'm working on it.

I downloaded roughly 15 years of weather data from the UK Weather Centre and am doing some processing on it to try to produce some realistic simulation software. Once I've done that for a temperate region I should be able to modify it for other regions (or not )

Don't expect anything soon, bit busy at the moment - life keeps getting in the way.

Don't know if it could help you with the weather-tool, but in the Silver Marches product there are some tables to generate random weather in the North. The only disadvantgae with such weather tables is that they don't always take in account the previous results, allowing fro some very starnge shifts in weather patterns.

Thanks, Mumadar, I'll have to have a look at those.
