Another very useful item in our high-level Waterdeep-campaign was the potion of longevity. My nobleman fighter was eventually addicted to them, after consuming potion after potion for months (we had MANY powerful enemies, so it was handy to be immune to poisons and able to keep up without any sleep). Those potions helped to defeat many assassins that crawled through mansion windows at night

How would a Potion of Longevity help with that? Potions of Longevity, extended ones lifespan.

There was a Potion of Vitality, which allowed you to go for 7 days with no food/water/sleep.

Give the thief a bag of holding. Stuff in it a fighter with one of those Ioun Stones that allows him to not need to breath. If the thief gets caught, out comes a fighter who scares the attackers away.

Goblins? *Slash* *Scream* *Thunk* What goblins?

Aye, you are correct - this old scribe's memory seems to be failing Of course I meant Potions of Vitality. I seem to recall that those potions also granted immunity to all poisons and diseases?

Any magic item that will change a characters alignment is good for role-playing. I loved that old helm until they just got one use! The old one made interrogating the enemy so easy when suddenly they shared like alignments with the party.
Also, where is any thief without a Ring of Invisibility?
