Can anyone come up with some Ilythiiri names? I'd imagine they would be closer to elven than the Drow language of today is. Would the names sound evil? At the time of the Ilythiiri empire not all dark elves were evil and not all worshipped Araushnee (or Lolth). Maybe they would be in a different language altogether... Anyway if anyone can come up with some, that would be great.

http://www.candlekeep.com/downloads/drowgen.zip should provide a Drow name generator.
As for good Drow/Ilythiiri having different names then evil Drow this idea does not follow. The Desent sent all Ilythiiri from the surface no matter which deity they followed and with them would be the naming customs.
The names would change over the years is posible, something like Lightbringer could have been changed to Darkbringer to more fit in with changed the culture.
There of course could be the surface dwellers adopting more surface naming comvention as Ed of Greenwood has indicated that some Drow in Elven cities are disquised, further it has been indicated that Drow language certainly a more evil sounding departure from its Elven roots. |
"Small beings can have small wisdom," the dragon said. "And small wise beings are better than small fools. Listen: Wisdom is caring for afterwards." "Caring for afterwards ...? Ker repeated this without understanding. "After action, afterwards," the dragon said. "Choose the afterwards first, then the action. Fools choose action first." Learned Scribe Naeryndam, et alia,
Here are some updated links for anyone interested in looking at those names. Bear in mind, that Great Reader Kentinal is correct that these are very likely going to be derivative creations that are not 100% (think of going back to Aramaic times).
