I've just learned of the attack in London. My heart and prayers go out to all Londoners and everyone in the UK.
Details are of course still coming in. The current numbers are at least forty-five people dead, and over one thousand wounded.
According to reports, an Al-Queida group is claiming responisbility for it. They seem to have attacked the subway and bus system because so many people use it in the city -- apparently even the mayor uses it. It isn't like in the States where so many people drive; now people are going to be naturally scared to use the transport system they've used all their lives.
Everyone in the UK . . . God be with you.

And let me echo the Bookwyrm's heartfelt words in wishing all of our London friends the luck and good fortune of the Lady Tymora.
This is truly a horrid event, and I can only hope that the brave people caught in this tragedy embrace the inner strength and resolve that Londoners are known to possess.
We are thinking of you all... and we hope for the best.

I've just spoken with my father. Those of you who know me well will remember that he's involved in the US FBI intelligence service.
He knows no more specifics than the public does at the moment; he was in the hospital for an appointment this morning. However, he is on his way downtown to FBI headquarters, and expects to be meeting with British intelligence liaisons shortly. He also confirmed that the method used in the attack is signature Al-Queida.
While I was on the phone with him, a Scotland Yard spokesman confirmed separate body counts for each attack, except for the last (the bus attack) which he declined to comment on. If I heard the numbers right, he's confirmed 34 dead in the subway attacks. There is also a number set up for people to call to find out if their loved ones were among the dead or wounded. |

What is so bothering about this is that the attack was made in such a place that optimal damage could be done. On a military front, such behavior is simply tactics. On a civilian front, pure malicious intent.
On a political level I'm not entirely certain I'm ready to put all my eggs in the alquida basket yet, however it would make sense. But not that, nor anything, changes the direness of this act. If it would make sense to do so on a forum, I'd suggest maybe a moment of silence. Otherwise, I'm sure everyone here mourns for them. |

I know some people that are there right now, it's a group called People to People Student Ambassadors from America, Spokane Washington to be exact. This is the group I went with when I went to overseas with them. The teacher leaders I went with are leading that group right now. So I hope everything is going okay for them.
I wanna echo everyone's thoughts and prayers to the people in the UK. May God be with you all. |

Yeah. Terrible thing. I can't stand those Al-Qaida's strikes. And to London!? Yes I heard too that the attack striked on public transport. I have some mailing friends in London and I mailed to them and they say that they OK, weren't there Thousand wounded, let's hope that the list of deads doesn't grow bigger. I think this is work of Al-Qaida, not IRA, they don't slaughter people like this. UK, London, you have my prayers. Tymora be with ye! |

All the prayers in the world out to the brave people of London. May they regroup and show the cowards who commited this malicious attack that they will not be cowed, but will stand proud, and prevent any fracture of their free society.

Indeed this has been a great act of vileness and cruelty, as a spanish i've got some experience in this kind of matters, and I can sure you that the most important thing now is to be and give help to those loved to us; there will be time for punish later.
I 've got nothing else to say, but this is too similar to the 11-M strike, to similar... |

Shocking! But ya know, I was kind of expecting this, just not so soon. As Alaundo stated, it's like a counteract to the joy of winning the olympic bid

I´m echoing the best wishes of all my friend scribes. It´s a sad thing that humanity don´t learned (yet) how to live together in one single world. I start this week troubled, and I have comented, and prayed with my job coleagues in monday, because of the US Independence Day. Something in my heart was saying that something bad will happen. And now, this. It´s a pity. A great pity. May the dead find rest. May the wounded find heal. May the widow, orphans, and all the survivors, find solace. God, take care of us all.

It was a shocking day for us here in the UK... though thankfully no one i know was involved as I live some distance from London and travel there only infrequently.
My heart goes out to all those who were affected by these attacks and it makes happy that so many scribes from around the world can join in and offer their support. It makes me proud to be part of Candlekeep and this great online community.
May everyone continue to be safe and well.

Exactly. Not to mention the timing is very similar to that used on 9-11 here in the US. If the fourth plane had not gone down in Pensylvania, the timing of the hits would have been almost exactly the same as the four bombs in London.
This was something planned for a long time -- as I understand it, probably at least a year. Longer if it was for a suicide attack (you need to brainwash the subjects). Of course, they've apparently recovered timers, so maybe it wasn't.
This is to make us feel unsafe no matter where we are. The thing to keep in mind is that the US has stopped a lot of attacks here since 9-11, and MI5 even more. I wish these got reported as well, because otherwise it looks like the enemy's winning. Because of that, I don't feel any less safe in my life.
Of course, I've also been very reluctent to do anything that someone else wants me to do, unless I want to do it myself. That includes religion, politics . . . and terror. |

My blessings too those in London. My brother was watching the BBC news one morning and I happened to catch some of it, they had said that the bombs were planted and they read off the number of the injured and dead at the time. That is all I really know at the moment |

It's terrible to hear about the attacks. I hope that they catch the people responsible and skin them alive. So far all the terrorists that have been caught have been let of lightly... damn the humanitarism acts. Why should Corby get the death penalty/life sentence for possessing drugs while the Bali bombers get 2 years. Oh, by the way they're due to be released soon. It should be the other way around if you ask me. |

What a dark day it was, my cousin works in London for ATOC (Association of Train Operating Companies) in Russel Square and had he decided to use the tube that morning he would also be one of the dead. This whole event has deeply saddened me and I feel so very sorry for the families involved, I had a feeling it might happen to London at some point but now that it has it's still slightly surreal.
I'am buoyed however by the stoic will of Londoners/Britons in the face of such a tragedy, we will and others around the world will not be stopped in living our lives by any bunch of dilluded terrorists and their weapons of fear and destruction. |

May the wrath of Tempus rain down on the cowards who bring death and terror to the peacefull west... This is indeed a cowardly act of killing by cowards unfitting the great halls of Tempus... Let´s bring the cowards to justice.
And out of RPG... A tragedy and a disgrace to all civilized people. My most heartfelt thoughts go out to the people of London... We are behind you. |

A most despicable and shameful act on the part of the Al-Qaeda. War should be limited to soldier to soldier battles, not the slaughter of innocents. I suppose I'm just expressing the sentiments already said by those before me. Yet we must realize that London has endured much worse than this, and the British will stand strong against these attacks. |
