Hello everyone, I would like to ask something and that concerns the Pool of Radiance. Is there information about the Pool of Radiance origins?

| Hmm...I once remembered there was a source claiming it to be part of Selune's temple rituals. It is a pool of magic waters filled with arcane energies and supposedly that the followers of Selune bathe in the waters for some kind of purification......this is as much as I can remember for I read this information a long time ago. |

The origin and existence of the Pool of Radiance in Phlan, was the focus of the first three novels in the 'Pools' series. In addition, the 2e tomes - The Moonsea, Heroes Lorebook, and the Villain's Lorebook - all contain tidbits about the Pool and the characters from the novels.
The Pool of Radiance that featured in the Pool of Radiance: Ruins of Myth Drannor CRPG was covered in both the novel for the game as well as the game itself.

Don't forget the 3e module of the same name and the 1e Ruins of Adventure module. :) |

The Pool of Radiance: Attack on Myth Drannor 3e module, which actually ties in with the CRPG, also had some brief notes as I recall.
EDIT: And Kuje just mentioned my above reference...  .

In Ruins of Adventure there are a number of passages from a few books that are detailed that tell of the Pool of Radiance. The first says that the Poool of Radiance is not unique, naming also a "Falls of Ixce", but that its magical properties might be the most potent.
Another passage links Tyranthraxus to Bane.
Another tells of how a mighty warlord named Tyranthraxus led the Riders out of the waste and conquored some obscure kingdom of Barze, before turning south to destroy two tribes (?) called the Horreb and the Vane. Eventually it is said that the flame that surrounded Tyranthraxus' body consumed it and flew about, until a Baron Schodt captured it in a vial and sank this vial into the watery depths of a Lake Longreach.
Yet another passage tells of how ten days north of a tribe (?) called the Varm, in the heart of the Tortured Land is/was a glowing spring.
Perhaps that spring is what remains of this LakeLongreach ... though the two passages occur in no specific chronology.
Given the ability of the spirits of such magical waters to take over the bodies of those who bath in them, and then the passage that links Tyranthraxus to Bane, perhpas they are specially linked to Bane?
On the other hand, any kingdom of Barze that ever existed in the Ride must have fallen long ago, and isn't Bane a relativbe new comer?

| Hmm, interesting replies, but Tyranthraxus was also thought to be an entity that came from the other dimensions with the parasitic ability to reanimate any corpses he liked. Strange, how is it that this Tyranthraxus is also a warlord when his form is the form of the corpses he animates? |

I would imagine that some outcast barbarian bathed in waters of the pool, Tyranthraxus took control, and then that was how he went around introducing himself while in possession of the barbarians body. |

Hmm, maybe, perhaps Tyranthraxus had usurped the Pool for his own purposes and cast foul magics that change the waters of the pool into someting evil. It was said to bathe in the tainted pool is equivalent to getting killed. Yes, Tyranthraxus could have possessed the first person who bathe in the pool. But it is also said that this Tyranthraxus is able to animate any corpse that is "quite fresh" provided it is near the form he is wearing.
Strange, how do slay such kind of foe when he can animate virtually any corpse nearby him and also stay alive even when the form he is wearing is dead or seriously battered? |

By some great work of wizardry perhaps. And if not, the second option would be that taken by this "Baron Schodt" ... to imprison Tyranthraxus' essence.

How about the third option? Banish him to some other dimensions which should be difficult for him to return.
