When I encounter the black slaad in Hordes of the underdark it has both damage resistance and damage reduction! Nothing I do harms it, or if it harms, it quickly regenerates! How am I supposed to beat this monster?

Mmmmmm ... I haven't played Hordes of the underdark, but, can't you beat it by magic? Or use the spell "Harm", to reduce its HP to 1. You could too, raise your strenght. |

I am a monk, and I have Deekin and Nathyrra with me. I used some magic items to attack it with spells but it just soakes them up, and I also used a vital ring to become an eart elemental with strenght 44, but that didn`t help either. The only thing that has managed to wound it so far is Nathyrras sneak attacks, and so seldom that it always regenerates. |

Just out of curiousity, do you keep getting a "weapon innefective" message?
If so, try using a weapon that has at least a +2 enchantment on it, that'll normally help. |

Is a quick reference on it, acid damage might not regenerate. Short of that you appear to be required to do major damage. Without looking at coding damage resitance (I infer energy) often does not apply to all types of damage. Try cold, perhaps lightning, even fire (though I doubt it) might have different levels of energy resistance. Acid tends to be the best against regeneration in core rules. Though looking at the hit points you need a vat of acid. Perhaps tactics is what is needed instead of direct combat. Gate it, get it into a pit of acid, get it to be killed by something else you can not beat. |
"Small beings can have small wisdom," the dragon said. "And small wise beings are better than small fools. Listen: Wisdom is caring for afterwards." "Caring for afterwards ...? Ker repeated this without understanding. "After action, afterwards," the dragon said. "Choose the afterwards first, then the action. Fools choose action first." Yes, acid should work nicely on it, especially if you have any acid bombs, or acid flasks will work if you have enough of them. |
