| Well as a DM I get to play all classes and have nothing against any of them except maybe paladin (Well, I have never used monk and barbarian ). If I have a central helpful npc or for some strange reason should find myself being a player I prefer ranger or bard. |

| Resurrecting a dead topic thread...I'm partial to clerics...Healing, battle buffs, superb support from the party members (After all...who wants the healer to be dead right?). The list goes on and on...Not to mention, the roll-playing possibilities that can be VERY detailed... |

I've always been a big fan of Rogues (thieves ftw!) I'd rather talk someone else into doing something about the problem then robbing them blind :) (while convincing them I'm just a do gooder the whole time)
My second would have to be Paladin, it's just so difficult to run one and I love doing the "Well damn, if I wasn't a Paladin this would be REALLY easy, but since I am a Paladin it looks like this is a lovely day to die." ;) |

I am partial to rangers and druids. I myself am a nature boy and I relate with them best. Plus, theres nothing like the feeling you get after mincing your foes with a good two-weapon fighting style. (so long as they're the bad guys) |

I voted the Cleric because you can have a good brawl with him and eventually can count on divine magic. I also like wizards & druids much.
It's a pity you can't vote for psion or psychic warriors here, 'cause they are also a good choise :) |

| Well...I'm especially fond of spellcasters. More or less, though, I like playing a 'witch'. Dabbling in cures, shapshifting, illusion, and nature magic all at once is fun! But it's not really a class choice... |

| Gotta love those rangers. |
When hinges creak in doorless chambers and strange and frightening sounds echo through the halls, whenever candlelights flicker where the air is deathly still, that is the time when ghosts are present, practicing their terror with ghoulish delight. |

| I prefer fighters and rogues, but I also like cross-classing. At the moment I play a fighter/cleric, which, in my opinion, is a very powerfull combination. |

| In the seven or so years of DND playing i've pretty much only played two classes fighter(human) or ranger(halfelf) well save for a short stint as a wizard fighter. Though my favourite is without a doubt the fighter there is just so much you can do so many different combinations. I like to play the 'skilled' fighter with the right feats my fighters are almost as useful out of combat as a bard or low level rogue which provides some versatility. but yeah my fav is the fighter. |

You know, I have to say by now I've played all the base classes (I mean the REAL base classes) and enjoy them all. I just choose whatever class fits the character. And yes, I enjoy barbarians. |

| i erfer fighters because i am more of a brute strength guy myself. i understand the appeal to spellcaasters, but i see them as too weak in their low levels, and far too powerful at the high end. i enjoy playing paladins, but i feel a little too restricted. i aslo enjoy playing rangers. |

I voted cleric, but it was a toss up between that, barbarian and rogue. I'm surprised that so many people voted for sorcerers, wizards, and rangers. They can be fun to play, I know, but when compared to the other classes, they're underpowered (yes, wizards are underpowered). It also surprises me that there are so few votes for the bard and monk. If you weigh up their hit dice, weapon and armour proficiencies, skill points, class skills, class abilities, base attack bonuses, and base saves, you'll see that they're the two most empowered classes in the game.

I prefer the rogue (used to be assassin) because the choices they would make are usually the opposite of my instict, so it forces me to really learn the character and not just be me.
IRL I would probably be a cleric - some type of healer 'cause I always try fix everything. |
Anyone who likes to read something that's really dark and gritty and completely awesome ought to read The Night Angel Trilogy by Brent Weeks. You can check out a little taste at www.BrentWeeks.com I should probably warn you, though, that it is definitely not PG-13 :-D
He also started a new Trilogy with Black Prism, which may even surpass the Night Angel Trilogy in its awesomeness.

Rogues are monsters in combat! (as long as they're not fighting 1v1)
Otherwise, look up "the Gamers" movie: "You're going to backstab him with a ballista?" "Uh huh." "With a f-ing siege weapon?" "Uh huh!" |

Bards are my obsession. They're something every party needs! Mechanically, they're alright, but far from extraordinary. It's the role-play and myth around them that appeals to me. Witty, charming when necessary, quite learned and no strangers to the road. And there's something mesmerizing about the minstrel who weaves magic and song into his swordplay, fighting in a trance. Bards can be so many things, though I personally prefer the sagely, philosophical individuals in search of enlightenment and greater understanding of music. They're no geeks though, as they're quite sublte and dangerous, in tune with the world.

For me it's much more about the RP than the combat. |

Rouge is makeup. Rogues are sneaky gits.
All character classes are not about combat potential. As I said in another thread, each class has its role. |
