Greetings
While this question is not necessarily realms specific, it is for a magic sword which will be. Does anyone know how to calculate the cost of a magical enhancement for a weapon that duplicates a feat? The closest I can come is looking at the sylvan scimitar which grants the cleave feat. the enhancement looks like it should have a cost of a +1 enhancement but the math is a little off and it seems a little on the cheap side. Any help is appreciated.

Thank you

It appears to vary some, for example Keen (Improved Critical feat) is priced as if an additional +1 when pricing (the sword needs to be at least plus one before it can be enhanced.

Thus one runs into pricing problems like.

+1 Sword 2,000 gold

+1 keen Sword 8,000 gold (making the feat cost 6,000)

However a few other feats are listed as a +2 enhancement and IIRC some Wonderious items a feat had the aparent cost of 10,000.

There is no set rule on how much an item confering a feat should cost. You need to feel your way.

"Small beings can have small wisdom," the dragon said. "And small wise beings are better than small fools. Listen: Wisdom is caring for afterwards."
"Caring for afterwards ...? Ker repeated this without understanding.
"After action, afterwards," the dragon said. "Choose the afterwards first, then the action. Fools choose action first."

Thanks Kentinal. I also looked on the forum at Eric Boyds website and came to the same conclusion. I will post the shortened version of the sword and if anyone has any ideas about the cost of the feat on this sword please feel free to let me know. Right now I am leaning towards a +2 enhancement bonus for this feat (making it a total enchantment of +3).

ARTFUL STRIKE

Artful Strike is an elegantly made elven longsword of a steel mithril alloy making it sharp and light. While bearing only a small enchantment to hit and damage (+1) the blade grants the wielder the arcane strike ability (as the feat of the same name). Arcane spellcasters can as a free action that does not provoke an attack of opportunity expend an unused spellslot or memorized spell to empower the blade for one round. The sword gains a plus to hit equal to the spell level expended and causes 1d4 additional damage per spell level on all strikes with the weapon that round. The attack bonus cannot be higher than the wielders base attack bonus, and the sword does not grant proficiency with the longsword if the wielder does not already have it (as it was created for use by elves this was not a problem). The sword looses all enchantments from being empowered if the blade changes to a different wielder. Spells to empower the blade must be arcane spells.
The sword is four feet in length overall with a three foot, two inch blade. The simple bar crossguard is eight inches long and the hilt is a hand and a half with a round pommel. The pommel has two star sapphires set in it, one on each side, and the blade is wrapped in simple brown leather. The blade has nine four pointed stars along the length, on both sides, starting at the crossguard. The stars are enameled blue and get consecutively smaller along the length of the blade. The enameled stars are on both sides of the blade.
The Artful Strike blades were first made in Myth Drannor before the final battle with the army of darkness. They were made so that mages, sorcerers and bards that were primarily artisans and had no combat spells could still use there magic to defend the city. Some were lost and later recovered in Myth Drannor but some were carried away from the city by fleeing refugees. The style and enchantment of the blades is such that new swords can be created relatively easily if the process were rediscovered.

P.S. if anyone can come up with an more elven sounding name feel free to suggest one.

Hmm, well a few names would be;

Poika en' templa (Claw of magic)

Tyelka hyanda (the agile blade)

Hyanda en' kurwa (Blade of the art)

Hyanda en' selu (Blade of magical arts)

Sauro moki kara ochiro - Even monkeys falls from trees.

This kind of a blade must not be so cheap 1 guess.Because it is dated back to Myth Drannor and it is an antique in all ways.Anyone who has this blade do not easily separate with it so it must be very expensive.
It is enchanted so only the arcane users can make good use of it and the enchantment gotto be a +2 i think,so the base price is 16000 gp plus the whim of the owner. If you ask me ,1 would not sell it out of a good 30000 gp...Take it or leave it offer:)
