Hmm, I don't know half those names. And I'm a bit surprised that Richard Lee Byers doesn't have a story in this anthology. I know, he had one in the first anthology, but he's the author of the Year of Rogue Dragons trilogy that these two books are connected to, so I was expecting a second short story of his in this one.

I think the whole focus on this anthology was to allow readers an opportunity to view an entirely new cast of FR authors. I would much rather see one more short story from a new FR author and leave Mr. Byers more time to destroy the rest of Faerun in his series. Of the aforementioned list, how many of the authors have made an appearance within our forums?

Good. Nice to find out new authors know how to prioritize their online time.

Thanks for letting me know all have. Some of the names I did not recognize.

<Scream> I so want this tome. Freaking Amazon still has it listed as "Not Published Yet."

I don't believe Rosemary Jones has ventured into the library yet. If ye know of her whereabouts, Ed, then please feel free to invite her over

Well met

Thank ye, Ed. Much appreciated.

I'm eager to hear of any who have managed to locate a copy of this novel in the stores. I'd also like to see reviews of the stories within. Remember, this is a springboard for many new authors of the Realms, i'm sure they all appreciate thy comments and feedback.

I feel ya. Not content to wait for author's copies, I went to my local Borders and found that they have it in stock, but they're not selling it until Tuesday.

Curses.

Hmmm, that's odd. There is no SOS (Strict On Sale) date listed for that book and I don't recall ever seeing one for a mass-market paperback release. That Borders is missing out on sales by waiting for the 3rd as this is a publisher's date listed only by their computers I'm sure. SOS books come in separate boxes with the release date on the side, these are arriving in mass-market random packs with no date.
Oh geez, now I'm off work talking about work, argh! Anyway, I hope you get a hold of it soon.

Actually, this is happening at my local Barnes & Nobles as well. All four of them in Manhattan are holding, but won't sell. I spoke to another author about this, who advised that publishers -- and authors -- are getting increasingly cranky about bookstores jumping the release date. I guess it's just up to individual store management whether or not they want to be sticklers for the rules.

I just took it as a sign that central Oregon is a horrible, horrible place for books. But now I see Manhattan is too.

I'm not even going to attempt to look for this novel until late next week. :) I know my book stores and I doubt it'll be out till at least a few days into May.

For some of us, books are as important as almost anything else on earth. What a miracle it is that out of these small, flat, rigid squares of paper unfolds world after world, worlds that sing to you, comfort and quiet and excite you... Books are full of the things that you don't get in real life - wonderful, lyrical language, for instance, right off the bat. - Anne Lamott, Bird by Bird

To those who are frustrated trying to obtain this tome, please check out Erik Scott de Bie's blog entry for April 28th. The title alone made me away some of the frustration.

Well, here's a report from central Illinois: both Barnes & Noble and Borders have RotDII on the shelves and selling. It was a surreal moment finally seeing it on the shelves at my favorite bookstores, let me tell you. :) Erik, your blog entry was too funny, if I could teleport you a copy, I would. ;)

Oh yeah, when a book has an SOS date, a store can get in big trouble for selling it early, but B&N gets a monthly SOS report listing those books with specific sale dates. RotD2 isn't on that list and should be available as soon as it's received. Actually, even going by the computer look-up, B&N would have to wait until May 28th to sell the book(the date listed before stock hit the warehouse)!

By the way Erin, I loved "Faerie Ire".

My store here took five minutes to find it within their computer database. This after giving them the title, the publisher, the editor, and that it was an anthology. What do I get in return during the five minutes? A blank stare that reminds me the education system in my country still needs a great deal of work. Finally, I get a voila from the B&N employee. "I found it!" She says with the excitement that makes me think I'm to take her out for milk and cookies because she did such a good job.

Alas, her idea of finding it is that it's on the way. "In a week or so. But, we'll have three copies. Would you like to reserve one?"

I really had to stop and think on how I wanted to reply. Finally, I realized I was simply being shown another reason, why I purchase online only when it comes to books. Thus, I have made an online order through one of the vendor shipping it within 24 hours. Hopefully, I will have it by the middle of next week.

I managed to get my hands on a copy as well.

I'm really enjoying reading everyone's stories. I feel like I know several of the folks in the antho and it's a great feeling to see them shine.

It was, as Jaleigh mentioned, a surreal moment to see it on the shelf, followed by another to see the table of contents, followed by yet another to see my name on the bottom of every other page in my story's section of the book.

Bizarre, really. Wonderful. Truly wonderful, but bizarre.

Back to reading more of the other tales!

P.S. - Erin, I agree with James, Ire was great fun.

Well, I just picked up my copy and read the excerpts from the upcoming novels first. Each of the excerpts left me wanting more, now I can't wait for these novels to come out! I particularly enjoyed the excerpt from Ghostwalker, that prestige class has always interested me, but I have never worked up the courage to play one, I guess now I'll have to.
