I hope its not the last of the monster books. I think it would be cool to have a book about the fey. Although, I would really love to see it done up FR style as "Sylvan Kingdoms" and reveal a lot about the Sylvan creator race and the Faerie pantheon, and maybe the plane of Faerie.
I have always wondered if there are more than one plane or world of Faerie, as the Faerie that the elves emigrated strikes me as possibly being a prime material world, as opposed to a whole plane. I also wonder what the fey pantheon are up to these days, if they still maintain any links to Faerun.
I am curious as to Emmantiensien's connection to the celestial World Tree. I would like to know about the sylvan creator race and their culture in its heyday. I am curious as to interesting fey creator race sites hidden in the forests and wilderness of Faerun.
And I want to know more about the Sylvan Crossroads and if they can actually take you to the plane of Faerie and what one might find there.
I think there is a ton of material on the Fey there to be mined and which would make for a great sourcebook! |

There is a sourcebook entitled Faeries, but it's not WotC. 'Tis a D20 book from Bastion Press. I thought it was pretty well done.
Oh, the creative director was Jim Butler, and the editor was one Steven Schend. |

Indeed, Faeries is a wonderful tome. A great addition to my planar book shelves.
Back to the Book of Aberrations though, I've noticed, again with growing disappointment, the lack of specific and expanded details on the psurlons. Again we've just been presented with stat blocks. Psurlons were among the most interesting astral creatures presented for the PS setting. And, as a major deviation from established material, their major environmental type is listed as warm deserts rather than the Astral Plane .
Another change: Psurlon adepts seem to have been replaced by Psurlon Elders.

They were-but not just in the Book of Madness. The MMII got to updating them to 3e first, and made the change. |

Let me get the book... The Lady K is currently busy reading through the tome acquiring new and interesting ideas for her gaming groups excursion into an cerebrotic blot which has just recently formed off the southern Sword Coast.
Now,
No, there isn't an aberrations cohort feat. The only feats listed that are for the aberration feat type are: Aberration Banemagic, Aberration Blood, and Aberration Wild Shape.

Damn
I was really hoping that I could take a Beholder as my Special Cohort when he becomes a Dreadmaster |

Well, there's nothing wrong with fudging a cohort feat on your own, for a beholder that is.
In fact, I might try something like that myself when I finally have some truly free time, and not like that pretend free time that almost got me fired last week.

Just glancing through this particular tome, I noticed that they did indeed keep the references to the Neogi and "travelling to different worlds" and through the skies, though its not overly detailed.
So I guess Spelljamming isn't dead, but it happens just out of sight. |

That's reassuring... I just snagged a copy on eBay, which will hopefully arrive soon. |

Wooly, when you get your copy, I'd be curious to hear what you thought about the Neogi as they are presented in the tome...
Sure. That'll prolly be the first section I peruse. |

After 3rd-Edition renamed the Arcane to the Mercane and made them pathetic groundlings, I had little hope for the new Neogi. I'm glad to hear that I was wrong. |

I don't know a single SJ fan who did agree with that change. As it is, in my campaigns, they are still regarded as Arcane... .

I'd do the same, if I was running a Spelljammer campaign. |

As did I and I still run Spelljammer and Planar and Material Plane games. :) |
For some of us, books are as important as almost anything else on earth. What a miracle it is that out of these small, flat, rigid squares of paper unfolds world after world, worlds that sing to you, comfort and quiet and excite you... Books are full of the things that you don't get in real life - wonderful, lyrical language, for instance, right off the bat. - Anne Lamott, Bird by Bird

I haven't run a SJ-specific campaign in quite a while, but both the Arcane and SJamming ships in general feature prominently at some point in most of my planar games.

Are there any particularly hulls you favor? |

In general, I've made semi-regular use of most of the hulls from Ed's Lost Ships tome -- cargo barges and eelships in particular.
From the campaign setting itself, I usually allow the players the choice of which hulls they prefer for their game if the adventure is centered around the PCs needing acccess to a SJ hull. If they're just being used as background elements to the story, or as specific plot devices... I usually favor most of the smaller hulls that have been detailed -- 20-25 tons at the most. The only time I'll usually use larger hulls, is while adventuring in the Phlogiston itself. There have been exceptions to this though...
