If more consumers take a stand like that, perhaps they will lower the price. If you and WR are the exceptions rather than the rule, well...

Well, we are exceptional gents...

Interesting... Have they said how much this will cost? And are there going to be options like buying several issues at once for a lesser price?

And what about the 60-issue gap between this offering, and the original Archive?

I finally got the Paizo link to work. There is no mention of the gap or discounts on multiple issues. I'm going to go out on a limb here and say no chance for the latter. But, the first issue available as a PDF indicates a price of $4.95. Is that more or less for what it went in print? Regardless, when shipping is factored in, I'm sure the cost of the PDF will be less. However, some consumers will still prefer print over electronic versions of a product.

Ugh... Again they want the exact same price for a pdf as they do for a print copy.

I realize that the searchable feature of pdfs is a good thing, but I still prefer having a print copy in my hand. I'd gladly pay an extra buck or two to get a pdf with a print copy, but if the price is the same on both, I'm going for the printed edition instead. I'm certainly not shelling out the same amount for a pdf.

Not quite the same price. After all these are Back Issues. Have you seen the Price List for their Back Issues? Most are in the $10-$15 dollar range, plus Shipping.

How do you copy and paste from a PDF to word?!? I need to know

Yeah, but if you've already spent cover price on a back issue, as many of us have, would you want to spend it again on the pdf?

The Dragon Magazine Archive CD-ROM cost, as I recall, $50 retail. And it included not only 250 issues of Dragon in pdf, but also the six or seven issues of Dragon's predecessor, The Strategic Review. That's a hair under 20 cents an issue.

As for cutting and pasting from pdf into Word, it's easy -- just use the text select in Acrobat, copy it to the Clipboard, and then drop it in Word. It's just like cutting and pasting anything else, except the formatting in pdfs is sometimes (usually!) really weird when you copy it to Word.

That's putting it mildly. Still, as long as I can do that, I'll most likely purchase some PDFs for new products that WOTC offers via online vendors.

That depends on how the PDF is made. The smallest file size doesn't let you select the text though.

Same here, unless the file have been compiled from picture-files only with no OCR made.

As for how to copy-paste from a pdf: Click the text-button, drag the mouse-cursor across the text you want to copy, click Ctrl-C or use the same command in the Edit-roll-down window, then open a .txt, .doc, or other word-processing file, and paste it in.

There is a rumour going around that I have found god. I think is unlikely because I have enough difficulty finding my keys, and there is empirical evidence that they exist.

I guess that's not too bad, the older back issues go fro $10 on the Paizo site right now. I know I paid that much to complete my 3ed Dragon collection.
