Well met

Indeed, it's great to get feedback on this project and certainly helps the scribes with their future articles.

Thanks, Chosen of Moradin, it's much appreciated

Thanks Chosen one! Anything you might have wanted added, or wanted more of? There is so little written on dwarves, sometimes I just don't know what I want to write. Little suggestions here, or questions there will sometimes prompt a whole article.

This is the kind of feedback we like. Others feel free to comment, either positive or negative.

Youīre welcome, Hammer. To be honest, I have liked of your articles from the begining exactly for this: there are two many sources of information about the elves, and all. And only the Dwarves Deep for us, members of the stout folk.

Hmmm.. right now, I think that I like to see a article about the Realms metals and minerals, from the viewpoint of the dwarves. We already have the manuscripts of Volo and Elminster (Voloīs Guide to All Things Magical), and the more generic ones (Magic of Faerûn), but I really like to see something about this matter from a dwarven perspective.

And, being the dwarves so linked to traditions, family and valor, I think that some articles about the Legends and Traditions (and maybe supertitions - "Noooooo!!! Donīt touch the red stripe of cloth in the vambrace of my hizagkuur breastplate! Bad luck! Bad luck") of the stout folk will be very interesting ("Well, lads. Sit down, now, because I will tell you the tales of strong Borenn Battlehammer and the lessons of Valor that he left to us from the days of Ammarindar...")

Dwarf, DM, husband, and proud of this! :P

Oh, Iīm here to help.
This is, IMO, the greatest force of Candlekeep: to be a local where the sages that fall in love with the work of Ed (and of the many others authors and designers that help Ed to bring the Realms to life) can join his knowledge, his advices, his feelings, in good efforts of creativity and good will to bring more life and more colors to Faerûn with each passing day. The Candlekeep Compendium, IMO, is the culminating fact that point to this. And the eternal presence, here in the hall, of Ed and of all the other designers, only suport more my feeling and my love, for this halls, and for the Realms.

So, Hail to you, scribes, novices, and masters of Realmslore. Hail to Ed and the other designers, to give life to the Realms, and so many tales to wonder and to share the spark of heroism in our hearts. And Hail to you, Alaundo, for this place, and all that it represents.

Chosen of Moradin, in an unexpected moment of emotion, talking like and old patriarch of his clan...

Well, first of all, I want to say that I will left Earlingīs Spray - part II, by Tyson Howard, to read after the other articles. I simply donīt are sooo interested in ships and his crews.

Thatīs said, letīs put the reading moving:

Planar Lore - The Iron City of Dis, by Gray Richardson:
another good read of the adventures of our planographer. I like of the description of the local and the sensations (in some way, it make me remember of the first time that I read Elminster in Hell). The constant factor of the betrayal in Baator was good used, and I like of the mission of Grimbuckle in this plane, and stay very satisfied of how the article ends.

The gnome deserves a great barrel of the beast Ysgardian beer that someone can found.

Unveiling Waterdeep Hidden Lords - part I, by the Waterdeep Hidden Hamster Lord, the were-hamster!

Heh! Jokes apart, Wooly, you hit the mark in this article. I liked of the concept of the article, I liked of your writing style, I liked of the way that you imerse Terielle in the canon Realmslore, I liked of the werecat idea (as a lover of cats, I ever used one or other in my campaigns), well, I liked of it too much! If you have something more developed for Terielle, please, spread this knowledge with us!

Chosen of Moradin, thinking here in the vivid scene of a werecat chasing a werehamster in the roofs of the docks ward...

I'm glad you liked the article!

I've not done anything else with Terielle, other than that single write-up. The whole project grew out of a desire to simply fill in a few of the blank spots among the Lords.

Werecats are desribed in Lost Empires of Faerûn, though I originally used the Realms Bestiary, Volume 1 by Eric L. Boyd and Thomas M. Costa for her creation -- she predates the former tome by a couple of years.

I hope you like the next Lord...

Communities of Impiltur: Ilmwatch, the Fortress City, by Erika Connolly

Wow! Another article penned from Arivia?
I sit confortably in my best desk, take a bottle of Bluestar Greenspire Wine, and start to read about how this humans organize his armed forces. Ewch!!! I donīt know why, but I think that us, dwarves, need to teach something about this matter for the poor humans.

Jokes apart, this article is one of the best examples of how crunch info can be funny, and interesting! And how crunch infos can be merged with fluffy lore to give us something really good to read, see, and enjoy!

Hail to you, Arivia. IIRC, this is your second article for the Compendium, yes?

The Candlekeep Compendium V:
Spellbooks of Faerûn - The Seven Scrolls of Nuthmerkuld
, by Jared Rascher.

Well, I really donīt like of this article.
I find the idea of the orc lich of few grab with me. Not that I find impossible to exist an orc lich, but I really find it too much brilliant for my taste (now, if the setting was Cerillia... ).

And other thing that I donīt like was the selection of spells in the spellbook. Three spells from the Lost Empires of Faerûn? This donīt appeal to my taste of game. I like of the old Forgotten Realms Adventures style, where the spells are classified as common, uncommon and rare, and to see three very rare spells (in the Ruins of Myth Drannor boxed set, they are descripts as spells from the phaerimm or the alhoon, Iīm not remembering exactly right now). So, see three phaerimm spells in the spellbook of an orc could made the heart of my wizards to stop of beat. After all, sometimes they have to give up a bone of theirs ribcages only to learn something about a spell from the Complete Arcane!

Youīre welcome, KnightErrantJR. Itīs only, as I have said, because of my way to guide my adventures as a DM. I tendo to expect a little more of work from my wizards to learn and discover any spell that donīt appear in the Players Handbook.

The Candlekeep Compendium V:
Journal of an Apprentice Scribe - The Feast of the Moon
, by J P Hazelhoff

I like of it! Yes, it resemble the works of Volo... so, I like of it a little more.
IMO, the article catch me by the attention with the details. The mention of Portia, a npc stated earlier in the same Compendium... the little references of good sourcebooks, like Serpent Kingdoms, Faiths and Avatars, and the good use of the lore that Ed give to us... .
Too many good details, that make of this article a little jewel of Realmslore.

The Candlekeep Compendium V:
Earlingīs Spray - part II
, by Tyson Howard

This article is very well written. Iīm not interested in ship matters, but anyway, itīs a good article. I donīt like of some of the names (Harlequinn and Mac the elf), of the excess of firearms, and Iīm intrigued for the planar lore of Dugan (to know a Slaad only by seeing it requires some previous study - or direct contact)

Now, as I am a dwarf that honor his word...

The Candlekeep Compendium III, IV and V:
Laborers of Toril
, by Scott Kujawa

Well, Kuje, here are my two cents about the article, until now:
In the general, I have liked of all the issues; some of the npcs catch my interest by the usability (I have one campaign in Waterdeep, one in the Silver Marches and one in the Unapprocheable East, so I have ways to put vary of them "in game"). Some catch me by something more intangible.. I donīt know how to express this; itīs like that character in the novels or movies that will start to think about...; and some for the interesting plots that a devil DM can use to prepare something... hot.. for the players

Now, in the other side, some of them donīt said nothing to me, for the following reasons: some donīt have usability for me, because of my style of game; some of them donīt spark nothing in my brain; and some are in regions that I donīt pretend to use, right now.

So, in the Candlekeep Compendium III I fall in love with Dolath and Iyramil, stay interested in Faurynn, Taulas el Sharess and Tunstarr, find Spirago funny, and donīt like of Meeline, Aryreen and Llethale.

In the Candlekeep Compendium IV, I stay amazed with Shildelgrosendar (the best until now), fall in love with Cethra, Durgin and Lylianthe, liked of Jaldiir, Veruldo and Ithmythe, and feel nothing about Felvhan and Jiang Li.

And in the Candlekeep Compendium V, I love Trelrene, Ammlus and Perann, liked of Elvaeery and Katsiko, find Elulanthe interesting, and donīt have too much to say about Belmut, Xmerador, Arres and Maztli.

That said, now Iīll have a well deserved break of the Compendiums until tomorrow, when Iīll start my review of the new Candlekeep Compendium VI!

Thanks Chosen,

And well, not sure what to say about those that you don't have much to say about or don't like, except that they might be useful for other DM's or players. :)

But overall, it seems the articles have been useful for at least someone....

After one week, nobody have talked about the splendid Candlekeep Compendium Vol VI?

So, itīs time for more reviews:

Candlekeep Compendium Vol. VI
The Hammerīs Stroke - part VI
, by Kevin Liss

A good article, that should be named as "How Iīll use all this crunch to my favor" . Interesting to read, very useful, and Iīm expecting to see the next one, and to see the other Prestige Classes that not are so dwarven-based.

There are a few that are not so dwarven made. I'm shooting for a twofer. One continuing the prestige classes, and another similar to the first several articles. Space providing, of course.

Ello's,

I've been pondering my laborers article since I've written about three dozen NPC's now.

However, what I've been pondering is either:

A) Ending that article because, as I said, I've written at least three dozen NPC's.

B) Still writing the article but changing the format so that the article isn't random NPC's but NPC's that are connected to a place/building. Basically, changing that article so that it reflects the laborer article that I wrote about the tavern.

Thoughts? I'm asking what everyone thought before I decided to change the article or end it.

I'll go with option B. I like the connection between site and NPCs and I can always potentially find somewhere to use this material for my campaigns if and when I decide to use it.

Hello-

Well, I would agree again, with option 'B'. Keep in mind - you could still include a 'random' NPC as a patron at the inn, or customer of a shop etc.

But for ease of quickly using the information - that would be my choice as well.

I am collecting the D&D Minis. I would be more than willing to trade with people. You can send me a PM here with your email listed - and I can send you my minis list. Thanks!

Thanks all for the input because I wasn't sure how useful that article was to people because only a few people have done reviews/commented.

But option B seems to be popular, so the article will be changing.
