Okay, so apparently there's a delay in making this available in Australia. I'm thinking I have to wait until the US hits the 27th?

I've tried again this morning, on the 28th, and I'm now told that it can be purchased. Unfortunately, I'm at work now, so it will have to wait until I get home.

Well my copy showed up all by itself on my kindle app on iPad. Funny thing is I pre-ordered it many moons ago as a paperback. When it was switched to eBook only ...I kinda forgot I had done so. Looks like Amazon switched it to the e version I guess. Weird. I'm enjoying the first few chapters (whew ....fate hasn't let up on Kalen has it?)I have had time for today , so it's not like I'm angry(was going to order sooner or later, (I was still havin the e- pricing vs. paper debate with myself and wasn't quite ready to) but I may still email them to find out how I ended up purchasing it, before purchasing it

Well, I'm diggin the vibe your view of Luskan is putting out
Who would have thought you'd go dark , but it's not really like anything you've done so far......and I don't want to spoil anything , but I am definitely feeling some Halo influence with what happens to the ....hmmm....infected bodies? (The scene with Kalen and the dead Dustclaw, reminded me of the first time playing Halo I encountered the flood, with those big puffy thing that would pop and spill out the little baddies.....I was wishing Kalen had a shotgun!)
Feels like it will be interesting to see how his return to his old city will affect him, ad well as to what from his past may return. |

Very interesting, RW, how that resonates. I have never actually played more than 20-30 min of Halo, and don't know the first thing about its creatures. I have seen the Thing, the Mummy, and 28 Days Later, though.

@Soundtrack: My typical bands for Shadowbane are Stone Sour, A Perfect Circle, and Rise Against. Of particular note are:
"Help is on the Way," by Rise Against (theme song for [i]Shadowbane[i])
"Say You'll Haunt me," by Stone Sour (not sure why, it just fits)
"Passive," by A Perfect Circle (fight song for Rath vs. Kalen)

Erik ....I finished Shadowbane a few days ago.....loved it.....in many ways it's your deepest.....most layered....best work so far.
I planned on discuss it a bit as I read it.....but since I read it in bursts while in the tractor this harvest( which is where I will be for the next month at least) that will have to wait.
But to sum up....I love Kalen and Myrin' s growth and realism. Their story is not finished, and it is a compelling one indeed! |

As time goes and my memories slip, waiting for book club scrolls that will be too late for my thoughts , I just wanted to share a bit here.
Spoilers Possible!
I really loved this book. Like 98% was as good or better than previous Erik Scott de Bie FR novels. ( only thing I didn't love was the zombie like symptoms of the plague....seems like the whole fiction world is going to the zombies!..... But you owned it , and made it work....just hope it doesn't pop up much more)
Charcaters we knew: all grew and gained much depth and complexity, more layers if you will. I want to know more about them. That means your doing a damn fine job.
New people, places and things: it's very deft what you do with these. You reveal many facets of someone( but not all!) with relatively few words. Same thing with places. And all have just the right amount fo grit...and edge.
An evil halfling? Awesome! Could only have been better is he were a bard also, but wait one of those....with dubious intent features prominently. both interesting and complex. Not too mention the demon / genasi dark lady.....I would much rather her pop back up than the short one
I have a hard time with names...so you work recently is a real exercise for me. Could you clarify a bit for me who is who and who they were, if even in a
Pm. Not anything unfolded yet mind you....just clarity on what you've shared
Myrin....Marelyn...there was another name as well
Fayne...I'm just totally lost!
Lastly....I need me some WORLD OF RUIN! . Anything to share yet? |

Oh don't worry. The plague was contained to this book. EYE OF JUSTICE heads to Westgate, which is devoid of a demon plague but has its own dark secrets and terrors to conceal.

He *is* actually a bard, or was that too subtle? Mechanically, he's a prescient bard (see Arcane Power). But maybe more like a rogue that dabbles in bard. See below.

I've created a LOT of characters, obviously, but here are the ones I consider most significant. I'll put down some mechanical notes for reference.

Looking forward to the ruin of my world
And is EOJ where the evisceration I'm most interested in appears?
And I have a couple of scrolls in the novels....curious about your thoughts , especially on the Realms Short Fiction, I'd buy that for a dollar scroll. |
