Hello hello. Everyone's favorite cyric worshipper has returned. I require from you a little favor. Several favors actually. Just reply with whichever you want. Thank you in advance.

Favor 1:
I need a name for a giant port city I am constructing. The city recieves minor trade oversea and has a fair size dock. It is divided into Three Areas (Maybe 4). The city is currently suffering currency wise do to 2 near by nations at war (names for these nations would be nice) This takes place in Faerun but everything is made by me (and you). References are made to Waterdeep and Baldurs Gate and Dieties such as Tyr and Mask are commonly worshipped.

Areas So Far:
-Residental Chain (Where many of the inhabitants Live. A Large Tower owned by Wizards of Thay can be seen over the rooftops of the homes)
-Dock District (Many Taverns and Inns Litter this area for sailors/merchants)

Favor 2:
I need you to construct the enviroments for shops and homes and buildings. I need a wizard shop. But I want help describing what this small shop would look like. Hidden compartments ect... Not just that either. If you have a strange building or shop with a strange owner that you have been dying to put into play I would love to hear what you got. I have the city but now I need to populate it basically.

Favor 3:
*plot*
The Hero takes on the role of a slave that escapes when a slave trade deal goes wrong. He/She Suffers Amnesia in the fray of battle and manages to flee to a nearby warehouse.
*/plot*

I need quests that would be meant for a rogue or assassin that could be completed. I am not against letting the hero start a guild or starting a business as a lock/trap repair/builder. If you can think of strange or unique Jobs the hero could complete.

*Possible Idea*
The hero is hired to assassinate a powerful mage. But this mage is extremely powerful and cannot be easily killed. So the hero poses as a cook and lives within the mages estate for weeks until he finally poisons the mages food.. Only the mages daughter/son takes a fancy to our hero and it forms a problem.
*End Of Possible Idea*

Indepth Plots like this would be what I am looking for. If you have a good idea but can't quite work it out. Give it to me anywase.

NOTE: I Will Give Credit To everyone that helps even a little. I will probally use a little bit of everyone's ideas. Thank You Very Much for your Time.

Here's some other ideas: Blue Heaven, Ocean's Nest, Great Harbour, (Name of Area) Seaport, Water's Edge.

“Darkness beyond twilight, crimson beyond blood that flows! Buried in the flow of time. In thy great name. I pledge myself to darkness. All the fools who stand in our way shall be destroyed…by the power you and I possess! DRAGON SLAVE!!!”

Very Very Good. Definatly I will be using most of the names mentioned above (For Taverns And the Actual City). I hope you didn't take them from anywhere.. they are very good.

No this city will not be on the sword coast as it would not go along with other roleplays. I have not decided where my city will go.. It is a bit large to be just recently built and needs to be on a port. I am open for suggestions where I should Stick it. There is a tower of the Red Wizards within the city. So maybe near Thay.. Just thinking outloud.

Once again.. I need Idea's For different rogue related quests and some eviromental Themes for shops ect..

Who wants to try and describe how the Tower of Thay Operates in a narrator voice. Thanks Everyone whose helpped so far.

Hmmm. Would the tower be part of an enclave or is it the abode of a single Red Wizard?

It might be less work for you to use a city that already exists but is only fleetingly detailed. That way it's place in the world and it's relationships with other nations is established. Just a suggestion, though. Is there any reason that wouldn't work?

Nations, Grendfel and Notbelsion, the war between these two concern a matter of trade routes including the river that leads to the harbor of the port city (you have been offered many names for the city already) which explains the reduced trade.

This is rather a lot to ask for.
Default shops are easy, home above shop, size varies based on how profitable the business is, some of the poorer craft people might have single story buildings where business is street side and home away from the street. As to the mix of buildings and homes a lot of that depends on what businesses they are. In general trades will cluster, smiths in a smithing distrct, as residents do not care to hear the hammers or deal with the smoke, unless that is how they make thier living (even some of them may not care for this, but it is their job). Tanners would certainly be another cluster area because of the oders resulting of preforming that craft. Oh the very poor might live in homes near such undesired areas because of low rents and almost certainly they will be at leat a few taverns there as well. There is no good way to define where the districts would form without knowing more of the area, smiths might tend to organizes nearest ore supply and tanners nearest to hide supplies, however other factors could crowd them out. In part you need to define what industries the city has before realy deciding how large an area or even number of businesses there are. Every city certainly will have a smith, a weapon smith, and down the list of crafts required to at least maintain the stanard of life and equipment (Oh if city very distressed the demand might exceed the capcity, no money to pay and some would desert city, remaining would increase prices and get paid in advance).
Now a magic shop an interesting idea, however in general such do not make themselves well known (no desire to become traget of raiders, you know). A shop might be more along the lines of a curio or even a second hand shop. Where one saying the right things might be offered a minor item at a fair price, and as repeat customers perhaps items of greater value. As for maping my proposed shop or any other I can think of, the use of magic including illusion would make that subject to change without notice. The best magic shop is one that does not look like it sells magic.

Recover the crown jewels.
Infiltrate the thieves guild, with goal of taking out leadership. (this offers the option of taking control instead of distroying as well)
Sepcialty tool design might be a trade considered.
Instuctor for special forces, which could become guild loyal to PC instead of ruler if played well.

It depends a lot on how you build the city, whom you populate it with.
There can be elf vs. halfling pedjudice, but both hate humans. There could be artists oposing the funtional craft people as a compeditive force. The posible plots are endless.

My time is not a problem at all, however if even one idea I posted gives you something to work with I do not want to be recorded with credit. The concepts I have offered are basic ones and I do not want my name scattered widely.

Way to go the extra mile Kentinal I loved pretty much all your idea's. I would love to use them but I think I should give a little credit..

Definatly a job well done.

Uhm for Enviroments of the Different shops.. Sorta Gimmie a personality of the Shopkeeper or his bodyguards or workers if he has them. Maybe the kind of objects you will find.. the appearance of the room. Maybe is there a staircase. What items he sells has already been determined.. I just wanna add character to my NPC's.. not the dull

NPC: Want a Item
PC : Yes Plz

Well of course it depends on the business, however a few examples.

As you open the door to the shop, the door strikes and rings a small bell. A young man glanses to you as you enter setting aside a polishing cloth that has clearly been used to [polish a silver gobbet. "Good day (depending on appearence of wealth, gender and sometimes race greets )Good man/Sir/My Lord , welcome to the Swift Silver. How might I serve you?" Within the shop you see many items of silver and also a door toward the back of the shop where the sound of hammering might be hread from time to time. Once fully in the shopand you look about you see above the door a man stationed, holding a loaded cross bow, as you notice him the young man speaks again. "There have been a few robberies of late, Robert is here t limit such foolshness here.?

As to what actual transatiob sought, perhaps a silvered blade or custom work, one needs to have names fr NPCs, you might want to stock the shelves, the young man certaonly will of course be better described, hair, eyes, general build, classes etc. He also might have a hidden weapon, depending on how active the thieves guild has been. The Silver Smith right now (in example) is clearly working at the forge. The shop will have counters as well.

Other shops might have guards armed with swords, stationed near the door, inside , outside or both. The number and talents of guards relate to the value of goods.
A shop that sells food, might not have a guard at all, or perhaps one or two that use clubs to discourage shop lifting.

Shops that deal with more expensive things, golds, gems an jewelry will have magic guards of one way or another, could be a combination of in place wards and guards with Sor or Wiz levels.

The magic shop of course will have magical protections and likely guards armed with magic weapons.

I would picture the Magic Shopkeeper to be a reflective personality, eyes calm though keen as they study the shopper. His voice is soft, kind though asking about magic items at times hesitent as he decides how much you might be trusted. The more powerful an item asked for on the first visit the more hesitate her would be to reply.
"Yes , ... I have heard of swords that cut though metal as if were wood. ... Such n item... I would imagine worth a lot. Perhaps you might find such a blade somewhere. I fear that few items here come close to what you seek." My vission would be one that deals with second hand items, so there would be a wide selection of mundane item, some of which would need some repair. If coming to ask for a magic item such as a potion, the shopkeeper after thinking about it might recall the claims of one traveler that the potion healed, and offer it at a fair price but with warning there is no assurance that the claim is true. (Magic will be true of course, but a level of trust must be built up before the chances of buying more powerful items or dangerious ones. A repeat customer that has not concerned the Shopkeeper on repeat visits be advised of some new item or perhaps even the on asked for weeks or days ago might have been recently aquired. Oh there can be a short cut, if the shopper is spoken for by a regular customer, perhaps order of Noble, password etc. However I would perfer that the PCs build trust then use that short cut). The guard that you see in the magic shop appears to be a low level Warrior that does not appear to be very attentive to the shopper or those that pass by armed with a short sword. (the guard is under an illusion spell and in fact is a Ftr5/Sor3 and watching you carefully. In addition there is a invisable guard Rog 4 that silently moves about the shop coming nearer should one ask about items of power).

I would not picture a stair desending into the shop from upstairs, though there might be guards with spears or spells stationed there to attck troble makers via murder holes.

As for personalities there also are some generators that offer traits, 2nd Edition had a table for them. Some will be shy , others gargarious some more trusting then others. NPCs can be made much as a PC is made as well where you decide on traits, one might hate women, another might give a discount to one for a kiss. And on and on.

In reference to favor 3...

The hero could:

1) Spy on people of power or wealth and use information to blackmail them in return for favors.

2) Be hired as a bodyguard in legal or illegal dealings

3) Go tavern 'hopping' to search for useful information upon where he overhears a conversation that a local adventuring group is in need of another member to help exterminate the undead and other nasties in the city's crypt (official job) and loot (personal job).

“Darkness beyond twilight, crimson beyond blood that flows! Buried in the flow of time. In thy great name. I pledge myself to darkness. All the fools who stand in our way shall be destroyed…by the power you and I possess! DRAGON SLAVE!!!”
