This was the closest place I found to post this.
I just picked up my C&C players handbook last week and I have to say I was pleasently surprised. The book itself is well written and feels like an older edition game book.
The artwork is pleasent, in black and white and is used sparingly. There are a few typos but nothing that ruins the game at all.
The core system is based on ability scores and "primes" which are abilities that PC is good with. This is used for the overall check system which uses the primes to determin the base target number. A prime ability is based at 12 and a nonprime at 18. The number is then scaled up or down based on the challenge. The player rolls adds his ability bonus and level to the roll.
The system is simple enough but may take some getting used to. Combat is fast an blessedly rules light. I was surprised at how much the game sped up under the C&C rules.
The best part is that the system accepts houserules easily and you can add or remove rules as you see fit. At $20 for a 128 page book I felt it was a deal. I also think this is the best use of the OGL since it's inception.
One last thing..believe it or not you can convert AD&D and 3e D&D to C&C on the fly. It is compatable with both systems with very little effort to convert. A definate benifit for those of us with a large collection of pre-3e books.
This one is worth every dime...
