                      | I got nary a thing on it with a Forgotten Realms logo. Of course, the reason is that other than some of the novels, I'm up to date on my Realms stuff.
As for novels, it's easier (and sometimes safer) to simply tell friends/family/girlfriend to give me a gift certificate... Especially since I recently went on a spending spree!

                      | Only reason I wasn't up to date on those accessories was I didn't have an immidiate need for them. As for the novels, I knew Xmas was coming, so I spent my money else where.
As for how to coordinate my novels. Well I made a my "Xmas List for Dummies 2004" put it in an envelope. When I was asked I said here, cross something off the list and give it back to me. Worked out pretty well...

Though no one bought me the HDTV or iPod color. :)

                      | I got the Neverwinter Nights Platinum Edition, which was nice. I also got about $200 in cash and gift cards for Waldenbooks, so I will be getting a few more FR items. |

                      | That list idea is good... But it wouldn't work well for me, since I don't see my parents as oft as I should, and I don't see several of my friends as oft as I'd like... |

                      | Well no one in my family exchange gifts so I have to go buy my own 'presents'. I was planning to get the Ruby Guardian but the shipments were delayed and I'd have to wait until probably next year. |

                      | As far as Realms-specific material goes, I only got Shining South, which appears to be a superior book. For the more generic D&D material, I also received the Tome of Horrors, Monster Manual II, The Slayer's Guide to Troglodytes, and a Monkey God Enterprises adventure whose name escapes me at present. All in all, a good haul, and many hours of good reading are ahead for me. |

                      | Well, due to the fact that I'm nearly up to date with most everything Realms-related... I received very little in terms of FR products. I did however receive a number SW d20 tomes that I'd been missing, but that's a discussion for another forum...

                      | I got nothing with The Logo on its cover. But my father did give me 30 Years of Adventure, which was very nice -- I never asked for it, because I figured no one would give it to me.
And of course, the first person to look through it was my brother, whom some old, old members might remember.

                      | And I got a surprise visit from Ed and three of the other Knights, and a glorious evening of high-spirited, fun Realmsplay (fuelled by honey ham, turkey, pheasant, mulled cider, and good spirits, of course). As far as I can tell, we all fell asleep on the couch together around 4 a.m. They were gone when I awoke, but Ed left me a present: my very own new Christmas story, written by him (no, not a Realms tale). He's such a dear.

                      | Nasty. A shapeshifter impersonating several Knights in succession to do covert killings and thefts around Shadowdale (something that's happened before). Most tracing and detection spells don't work properly in the central dale any longer, thanks to all the portals and wards and magical stresses the years have brought (Sylune's blood seemed to "stain" the Weave locally), so we're having a hard time tracking down this culprit. Storm sequestered some of us Knights under her protection in her farmhouse, so everyone else could go "Knight hunting" in the dale without fear of slaying one of us (the real Knights, I mean). This led to a wonderful evening of in-character tale-telling and debates about what we Knights should do next, in the unfolding politics of the Dalelands.
 One happy THO

                      | Sage, I THINK (means: my guess) Ed borrowed this idea from Roger Zelazny; they became friends before RZs tragic death (in the Amber books, if the blood of a royal Amberite is spilled on the Pattern, it damages the Pattern). But then again, maybe not. I dimly recall The Simbul telling us Knights of her wounding in a battle against Red Wizards, and what it did to magic at that spot, years ago - - not before the Amber books, but possibly before RZs first mention of any damage to the Pattern.
So far as my present understanding of what now holds in Shadowdale goes, its like this: from the spot where Sylune died and radiating outwards for some miles (!), magic is wild. Not all the time, and more for some sorts of magic (detection, scrying, divination) than others (blasting spells), but I believe Ed rolls for random effects with every single spell thats cast.
Its Weave damage, and so will probably both spread and fade away over time, if Im interpreting Ed-as-Khelbens sarcastic little lecture to certain Knights correctly: the flows of energy tend to iron out anomalies in the Weave over time, making it all more or less alike.
Hope that helps; I know Ed and the Realms team have been keeping precise Weave powers and properties as vague as possible, so as to give maximum design elbow room for years to come.
 love,
 THO

. And thank you, my Lady .

I prefer that it is not strictly defined, and not only because it allows for potential development later, but it also allows imaginative DMs to forge their own interpretations for parts of, or even the entire Weave itself.I know Ed and the Realms team have been keeping precise Weave powers and properties as vague as possible, so as to give maximum design elbow room for years to come.

You know, Lady Hood, if you were to start a scroll on your remembered adventures, I'm quite certain that the page loads on that would skyrocket.
We'd all like to hear of these adventures.

I'm inclined to think she's always willing.

This is old turf, my friend. And to cover myself, I am not refering to the charming lady Hooded One.

Anyway, I got no Realms goodies for Christmas as I'm up to date on sourcebooks and not really sure where I want to go next with novels. Besides, more than anything else, I can't wait for the Waterdeep novel and sourcebook.
What I *have* been doing is engaging in some quality time playing within the Realms, I've been putting my players through their paces in the Mere of Dead Men series and I think we've all been very happy with it.

Oh, ditto that! When those books hit the shelves, anyone betwixt me and them will be flattened!
