Hey, I am not an adventurer or a mighty wizard, and I don't know Elminster, Drizzt, or Khelben from Waterdeep although I am certain they're really really dangerous, uh I have a Prime Minister, not a King or a Lord. I speak english and french, Not common and elven. My farm is in Ontario, Not Shadowdale. I believe in reading and writing for a living, Not dungeon delving and plane hopping. I drink Molson Beer, Not Dwarven Ale. My god's name is just that, god, Not Bane, Mystra, or some guy named Tyr. I fear men with guns, and not monsters with swords and sharp claws. My home is not threatened by dragons or Zhentarim agents, Only the government and die hard Forgotten Realms fans. My name is Ed Greenwood, And I AM CANADIAN!!
Tell me what you think. If you have your own versions, share it with the world :)

Not bad, but Ed doesn’t drink Molson’s anything. When he does imbibe beer, it’s either Holy Smoke or Cranberry Maple Wheat (don’t sneer; it’s nice!) from Church Key Brewing (micro-brewery in an old church in Petherick’s Corners, Ontario) or one of the Black Oak beers (Black Oak is a micro-brewery in Oakville, Ontario, co-founded by Ken Woods, who played the magic-user Nain in the Company of Crazed Venturers, in the early days of the original Realms - - so TRUE Realms fans MUST drink Black Oak; I recommend their Best Bitters). When abroad, Ed prefers Sprecker’s Dark Amber (a Wisconsin beer), Rickard’s Red if he must, and even (for some strange reason) Iron City Light (from Pittsburgh, PA). He’s been known to drink Tsingtao rather than American light beer, but I have seen him drinking Budweiser (NOT Bud Light) and giving the bottle curious “What did they put IN this stuff?” looks. When in England, he also likes a large number of Real Ales, and will drink Wychwood brews. A tangential topic, I know, but hey: Molson’s? No. Labatt Ice, if Ed MUST drink a “big conglomerate brewery” offering. Some other of the original Realms players have made their own beer from time to time: I’ve seen literally gallons-worth of large 1-litre “plastic bomb” empties lining the windowsills of Ed’s gaming cottage after a single day of Realmsplay. Saving the Realms is thirsty work, y’know.

Beer... Yick (Alaundo, you should have a sick emoticon)
Not bad Alisttair, but you should change Ed Greenwood to another name, your own perhaps? Because: 1) Already got an Ed living in these forums 2) Ed not knowing one of his characters, El Treading a thin line there |

From all the replies it seems that I should explain my post. It is based off a commercial here in Canada which advertises Molson Canadian Beer. Various spoofs have been made on it like William Shatner saying he doesnt speak romulan bla bla....
Anyways, so I did this more like a tribute. Ed Greenwood, creator of the Forgotten Realms is canadian so I decided to put his name and do this by changing the text appropriately to be FR style. Still had to maintain the molson beer part cause the original is by them :) |

Alisttair,
in my minds eye I can see Ed standing on a stage, a touque on his head, a hockey stick in one hand, and a "two-four" in the other.
I'm still chuckling to myself, and I'm sure he would as well.

First, welcome to Candlekeep, Taurren!
Second... I've been wondering this one for years: what is two-four? |

Thanks for the welcome!
And as for your question ... a "two four" is Canadian for a case of 24 beers. A case of 12 is just so ... small.
If you're Canadian, its the only way to buy beer. |
