Small dragons...*yawn* it would be nice, especially for THIS set, if the released large dragons for chromatics and metallics... but that is wishful thinking...
I want my players to be frightened when they encounter a dragon... if I placed a small black one on the battlemap they'd probably go "Oh, how cute is this!" which would totally blow the tension... |

| Hm . . . LOTR vibe there, between the Shelob reference in the Fiendish Huge Spider entry and the whole neutral aligned bad tempered tree thing related to a Treant thing (reminds me of Old Man Willow). |

Small Copper Dragon, Storm Archer, Bonded Summoner (a wizard wearing red that plays with fire, hm, think I can find a use for that in the Realms), Griffon Cavalry (really cool looking), Warden of the Wood, Tordek, Dwarf Champion (maybe not the best looking helm, but its a good solid high level dwarf figure), Huge Fire Elemental, Purple Worm (who doesn't want a giant purple worm figure?), Displacer Beast Pack Lord, Wererat Rogue, Dread Warrior, Large Green Dragon, Dracolich, Large Fang Dragon, Hunting Hyena, Small Fire Elemental, Cleric of Laogzed, Mountain Troll, Ogre Skirmisher (finally a female ogre! I knew they had to reproduce somehow!), Huge Fiendish Spider (I love this guy), Demonic Gnoll Archer, Magma Hurler, Small Black Dragon, Yuan-Ti Halfblood Sorcerer, Twig Blight, Tundra Scout, Stirge, Sorcerer on Black Dragon are all figures that would be good additions to my games and my collections.
Some of the others are a little too new and out there for me. I don't mind some new creatures making it into a set, but I also think that each set should have a fairly good assortment of "standard" D&D races and classes represented. If you are brand new to the game, and just started playing because you love things like the Lord of the Rings, or even Harry Potter, and then you look at the Giant Dragon Blooded Mutant Soul Eater Aspect of Unpleasantness, I'm not sure how useful that mini would be to your enjoyment of the game.
Then again, I'm not really a big fan of all of these Tiamat spawned "dragon because they are vaguely reptillian" creatures either. Some are too much like Draconians, and others are too much like aberrations, and that starts to make you wonder what the heck this has to do with dragons anyway. Maybe its just me.
Oh, I would have much rather had a Death Giant in the set than the Eldrich Giant. As much as I love giants, those guys don't do much for me. Love the Tundra Scout though.

At first glance, I thought that the "Golrath Cleric of Kavaki" figure was a BattleTech Centurion...
Hehe... Good call .
Actually, there's another image around here somewhere whih reminded me of an Axeman...

Dargoths WODQ review
http://merricb.multiply.com/photos/album/4
Aasimar Fighter: Very bland looks to be all one colour, Ill take one
Aspect of Bahamut: Aka the Hollowing Dragon who ever came up with the sculpture for this on e really got in wrong it looks nothing like Bahamut
Cleric of Syreth: Looks ok although it did give an early impression that he was brandishing a sawn off shot gun
Dragonborn Fighter: Very Bland the mini head to toe in the armour its very dull it may see use as a Paladin of Bhamut
Golden Protector: Can double for a Lammasu
Meepo, Dragonlord: Will use for a Kobold leader, Ill take one
Slaughterstone Eviscerator
Tordek, Dwarf Champion: This mini has one of the worst faces ever
War Weaver : Nice looking mini will do for a Character or NPC
Bonded Fire Summoner : Will likely use it for a Red Wizard of Thay or a cleric of Amaunator
Clawfoot Rider: An Eberrron mini with not a lot of practical use in the realms Ill take 1 for completeness
Goliath Cleric of Kavaki: Earth Genasi cleric of Grumbar
Griffon Cavalry: The Waterdeep Griffon riders just got a mini!
Small Copper Dragon: Good for those players who want to take Dragon Familars or Cohorts
Spellscale Sorcerer: Probably end up being used as some sort of Half Dragon
Storm Archer: Character or archers for a temple of Talos
Tavern Brawler : Your not a real DM if your players haven’t got into at least one bar room brawl during a campaign!
Warden of the Wood: Good mini for a NPC or PC Druid
Azer Fighter: These will come in handy when my Players visit a certain temple of Kossuth
Huge Fire Elemental : See Azer Fighter it also fills a whole in the Summon Monster/Natures ally table, Ill take 4
Purple Worm: Ill take 1 maybe 2
War Ape: A mini of little use in the realms Ill keep 1 for completeness
Wizened Elder Watcher: Not sure what use I can make of these maybe iuse them for young Treants or something
Aspect of Tiamat: Whiles its fairly specific Ill also use it to represent Hydras, Ill take 1
Blackguard on Nightmare: Scyllua Darkhope, Ill take 1
Bluespawn Godslayer : This is an appalling waste of space and I will take one purely because I want a complete set
Cadaver Collector : I can see the Church of Tempus using these to collect the dead after battles, Ill take 1
Diseased Dire Rat: You can never have to many Direrats
Displacer Beast Pack Lord: One of my players had a bad experience fighting Displacer beasts wait until he sees this!
Doom Fist Monk: Useful If ever want to run RHOD
Dracolich: Aghhhhhh . Ill take as many as I get in my 3 cases
Dragonwrought Kobold : I do not like the whole Kobolds have the Blood of Dragons thing 3ed has introduced so this figure is unlikely to see much use in my FR campaigns
Dread Warrior: FR figure may appear inside the Thayan Enclave in Waterdeep
Eldritch Giant: Eldritch Giants don’t seem to have much of a presence in the realms so Ill take 1 and use as a Sub for any Huge Giant my PCs encounter
Greenspawn Razorfiend: Aghhh more Dragonspawn
Hobgoblin Talon of Tiamat : Another handy mini if I ever run ROHD
Kobold Zombie: Small undead humanoids Ill take some
Large Green Dragon: Hmm Dragons Ill take 2
Wererat Rogue : A Dm can never have to many werrats
Poison Dusk Lizardfolk: Nice sculpture pity there small Ill trade most of them
Witchknife : Not real useful in realms
Blackspawn Exterminator: While I hate Dragonspawn this one at least can sub for a Humanoid Half Black Dragon
Cleric of Laogzed: Aghhh more Troglodytes!
Cloudreaver: Good mini for Pirates and Waterdeeps naval personnel
Demonic Gnoll Archer: I already have a number of noll archers from Archfiends although these ones do look nicer
Huge Fiendish Spider: Will be handy for anyone running a Drow campaign or using COSQ
Hunting Hyena: I got plenty of these in Harbinger Ill take 1 purely for completeness
Large Fang Dragon: More Dragons Ill take 2
Magma Hurler: Sub for a Medium Fire Elemental
Mountain Troll: They aren’t known in the Realms so one purely for completeness
Ogre Skirmisher: My ogre collections starting to overflow, Ill keep 2
Redspawn Firebelcher: Aghhhh More Dragonspawn, Ill probably end up using it to represent some sort of Felldrake
Small Black Dragon: Will come in Handy for Villians with Dragon Familiars or cohorts
Small Fire Elemental : Another Handy mini that will help fill out the summoning tables
Sorcerer on Black Dragon: Wearer of the Purple riding, If I get 2 I may repaint the riders clock purple
Stirge: The enemy of all low level PCs, Ill take 14
Tundra Scout: Pity they didn’t do Kuzgoth riding Tusk from COSQ well I guess the Tundra Scout can sub for him
Twig Blight: Don’t have a lot of use for Twig Blights all though I guess they may come in handy
Whitespawn Hordeling: More Dragonspawn……….
Yuan-ti Halfblood Sorcerer: This is very nice mini and Im sure I can find a use for if the PCs ever goto Skullport

For those who played the KOTOR the following characters are included in COTF set
Darth Malek HK-47 Darth Nilhius Bastilia Atris (Jedi Guardian) Discple (Jedi Consular) Sith Assault Droid Visa's Marr (Jedi Sentiniel)
The figures based on Atris, Discple and Visa (Plus the Sith Assault droid) are uncommon so they will be fairly easy to get the other 4 however are Very Rares

We're talking the company who had the chance to take the old WEG system (which in my opinion was vastly superior to D20 SW). Instead they made it level based, and, although colorful, pales in comparison to what WEG did when no one bothered with Star Wars.
The sales plummeted, which was probably due to 'lack of interest' from the 'fans'. At least that seems to be the official explanation. Also releasing a second edition of the core rulebook didn't help, plus they didn't even give old hands, like me, the option to use the stuff for the system they had played for a decade...
WEG turned everything into a sourcebook, well almost everything, but if I look at my game library which contains almost everything ever released by WEG I know that they would have given the games the tremendous honor they deserve...
I think SW was always a niche game, but maybe WOTC thought differently... the quality of the prequels didn't help either... |
