You know, its a minor thing, but I find it kind of interesting whenever a designer actually plays in FR. Not only did Stephen Schubert apparently play in FR, but he played a cleric of Lliira, not exactly a goddess that one would pick if one is only passingly familiar with the setting. Plus he mentioned how the dwarf could be used to represent a FR PrC. I know it may seem minor, but I appreciate things like this.

I got my promotional Hill Giant Barbarian from the PC Gamer promotion a few days back. Its actually embarrasing to put it next to the old Hill Giant from the first set. A Hill Giant Chieftan would be good, especially since the old Hill Giant and the new one hardly look like they are the same species of giant!

I was hoping that if they did a Hill Giant Leader then they'd do the one from Darkhold ie a Hill Giant in Full Plate! Although it would probably look similar to the Iron golem

Wait . . . Warduke made it into a set before Khelbun, or Laeral, the Simbul? If Strongheart, Ringleraun (Sp ?), Northwind, Ogre King and all make it in before I see Alustriel, I'm gonna be upset.

But hey . . . at least its got a ballista.

Okay, I will admit, if Warduke looks like he did in that issue of Dungeon where he was a critical threat, he'll make a cool looking mini.

Okay, goblins I'm good with, especially Worg riders. Hm . . . I wonder if Snig is destined to be the goblin equvalent of Meepo?

And these goblins are definately better than the older goblins that we got in earlier sets.

Who is Warduke?!?

Thats what I said when I first heard about the mini

According to the guys over at Maxminis Warduke is a Greyhawk character. He appears on the cover of one of the Old 1ed modules and apparantly he led the Greyhawk Kingdom the Horned Society before Iuz overan it

Ill probably use the mini as a Gladiator

Warduke was in a REALLY old 1st edition product known as the Rogue's Gallery with a few other iconic NPCs. They were presented in a fairly generic manner in that product (I can give too many details because I never saw the procduct myself). Several of these characters that appeared in the Rogue's Gallery ended up in LJN's action figure line that came out back in the early eighties (after Star Wars and G.I. Joe convinced everyone that EVERYTHING should have an action figure line). Warduke was the main villain in the action figure line. Several of the action figure characters made cameos in the early eighties Dungeons and Dragons cartoon show, including Warduke.

Finally, when Warduke was made into a Critical Thread in Dungeon, he was made into an agent of the Horned Society, a "fixer" not entirely unlike what Shurrupak did for Gilgeam in Unther.

If anyone knows anything else that I missed or got wrong, let me know.

Interesting

There using the cover art from a number of FR novels as part of the several minis posters including a picture of Jarxale, Artemis and Drizzt and there also using the pic of Vambran Martell from the cover of Sapphire Crescent...

One of the guys at Winter Fantasy got a look at the War of the Dragon Queen

The Good news is that there will be a female in armour riding a Nightmare in the set

The bad new is its probably not Scyllua
