How about Realms of the Dragons II? Sure, it's an anthology and not a novel, but it features the largest collection of "new blood" in the Realms since... well, ever, if I'm not mistaken.
If it's anything like the first anthology, I am eagerly looking forward to the release.
Apologies for not putting it on the list, but I simply ran out of room. |

Heh, I figured I already used my "cheesy self-promotion" spell-like ability and needed to rest a while before I could do so again. That said, don't forget that RotD2 will also contain a preview chapter from Maiden. |

Since i've enjoyed every book by Greenwood and Cunningham, i'am waiting for City of Splendor's. The real thing that disappoints me greatle is that 2005 FR literature list doesn't look very impressive. And most novels are part of some series which i havent started reading yet... |

What could be included to the list that would make it impressive to you? |

Yes, I agree with most of the scribes here Sirius that you've chosen a tricky poll to begin with. I was at a loss at who to pick (it's especially difficult when you've only read up to book 3 in WOTSQ and still waiting for the ruby gardian to come out), I enjoyed reading the Everis Cale and Year of the Rogue Dragons triologies so far but I was more taken in with the WOTSQ and Sapphire Cresent novels. I haven't heard of City of Splendors and loathe to start a new series ontop of my ever-growing list of series I'm inbetween reading so I had given the Last Mythal series a miss. Hmm...tis a hard choice indeed. |

As I said in my most recent PM to you, Lina... just allow me some time to settle-in to my new place, and I'll see what I can do about bringing you up to speed on all the Realms fiction... .

I will be honest and state that sadly, I have only read one of the books relating to this topic. I finished Rage will recently deployed to Iraq, and I have to say, what a way to escape for a while. Great story line, and the concept of a half golem was made believeable. I also strongly liked the Ice Dwarven ranger. Good stuff, so my vote would be part two of the Year of the Rogue Dragons. That being said, I WILL be reading a good many of these trilogies in the future, as I am totally hooked on FR. |

With Resurrection and me knowing its contents by the time of this post, I voted for Farthest Reach. I was impressed with Forsaken House (its only downside being that I thought the main protagonist's personality too bland), and it seems Farthest Reach will feature one of my favorite Realms locations, Myth Drannor. |

Yup. Farthest Reach is the sequel to Forsaken House, and the second book in the Last Mythal trilogy. |

1374 to be exact. :) |
For some of us, books are as important as almost anything else on earth. What a miracle it is that out of these small, flat, rigid squares of paper unfolds world after world, worlds that sing to you, comfort and quiet and excite you... Books are full of the things that you don't get in real life - wonderful, lyrical language, for instance, right off the bat. - Anne Lamott, Bird by Bird

I think it's because most people are interested in seeing the setting move forward, and because moving forward makes it easier to avoid continuity errors...
I, for one, got bored with another D&D setting because they did two big events in modern day, and then cranked out book after book that dealt with something in the past. |

While there are a few characters that I'd love to see a novel focus on regarding their past, I'm overall happy the new novels are moving forward in the timeline. One possible option is for WOTC to continue to have some short stories within anthologies focus on past events. |

Wow, this is an old thread.
"Which upcoming Forgotten Realms novel scheduled for a 2005 release are you looking forward to the most?"
Um. . . Ghostwalker? Yeah!
Actually, from the list, I'm most looking forward to The Farthest Reach. Not only is Richard awesome, but apparently it contains -- you guessed it -- the zhents. Sweet.

That revelation did surprise me a bit. That is going to be one crowded novel with all the groups possibly involved in the events within. |

Greetings to all forum members, can I know a little bit more about the coming Novel called The Farthest Reach such as the background of the story and the release date? |
We have fostered trust, recruited loyalty, and gathered the faithful. We have trained thousands. Our legions can cover the land, fill the sky and travel through the darkness. We can hunt any and all that would deny our heritage. Now is our time, now is the time of the Dark Reign(Rain) of the Empire of Shadows. - High Prince Telemont Tanthul, Lord Shadow In a speech given to the citizens of Shade Enclave At the celebration of the Shinantra Battle victory when he revealed that he was THE Lord Shadow of legend. |

Not much has been revealed regarding the background of the story. You might wish to check Richard Baker's thread as I believe some details might have been posted there. The last I heard, the release date was July 1st. |

Yes I look forward to Waterdeep, yes I look forward to Last Mythal 2. But I know those are going to be solid reads (and little surprise on how much I'll enjoy them.) Not to take anything away from them or anything.
What I was most looking forward to was the Bladesinger novel that so far has disappear from the line up all together, which is disappointing. They could do quite a bit with that novel, and I'm totally waiting to see where it goes. |

Yes, indeed. I'm sorry it's not coming out sooner too -- they mixed up the order of the Fighters novels a bit. Look at it this way: This delay only means they'll be working on perfecting Bladesinger even more.
And who was supposed to be writing Bladesinger again? I seem to recall. . . no, nevermind. I'll wait until someone who knows more realms(PUBLISHING)lore than I do have the answer.

I could be mistaken but the only listing for Bladesigner didn't say. :/ |

Check out Richard Baker's thread here at Candlekeep. I think there is where he made mention of this development. |
