Did anyone else get a looonnnnggg survey for the WOTC website upon accessing either of these articles?
I got it, too. I'm wading thru it now. I'm a bit surprised to see them soliciting feedback, especially in light of what I'd previously been told while in those other forums. I just hope that for once, they pay attention. |

Got that survey as well and spent the time to fill it out, especially the later parts about thier search engine. :) |
For some of us, books are as important as almost anything else on earth. What a miracle it is that out of these small, flat, rigid squares of paper unfolds world after world, worlds that sing to you, comfort and quiet and excite you... Books are full of the things that you don't get in real life - wonderful, lyrical language, for instance, right off the bat. - Anne Lamott, Bird by Bird

As did I. But when I saw the question, I decided to go back and do the survey. I had to use History to get to it, though.

I complained about the search engine, as well. I believe my exact words were:
quote: The search engine is horrible. It's easier to go to google to look for information rather than wading through the arcane morass that is the existing search engine.

Personally I would have gone with a cleric of Shar, then Loviator or Talona
Well, at least they correctly used an FR deity. I think that and the mention of Netheril are the only details that make this generic adventure at all FR related. |

I'm beginning to wonder if these articles were written for the Realms at all... Other than those couple of points, it's entirely generic. I think it was written with no specific setting in mind, then those mentions were added so they could call it a Realms article. |

That's awfully cynical Wooly...come on.....
but most likely true if one takes a long and hard look at the article. I'm not saying this fact makes it a bad adventure. But, the WOTC web page team isn't fooling anyone here. They are lucky I didn't view the entire adventure before I took that survey. |

I'm afraid that is incorrect - please give WotC credit where they deserve it. In fact they also mention one character as being 'dwarf or earth genasi' (as if there's a difference!), thereby not only giving an aspect of the Realms in the earth genasi - but also giving a choice for the people who wish to use this in other settings.
Why are you not applauding???

Wow, three mentions of FR related items instead of two....you are right...I should be cheering and applauding.
Be it two or three, I still think it was either a generic adventure changed at the last minute to include a few FR elements. Or, it was an FR adventure written as genericly as possible. I'm not saying either is wrong or makes it a bad adventure.
However, contrast it with a recent free adventure I looked over by Michael Mearls (I hope I spelled his name right ) that features Monte Cook's Diamond Throne World. The adventure is immersed in details specific to that world. Yet, it's still retains the ability to be easily converted by someone wishing to change it to their home brewed world. I wish that template was one WOTC took with their FR web adventures. |

Even a line or two on possible locations would have made this feel more like a Realms-specific article. |
