Hmmm, then I don't think I ever noticed the gem then.
Or is it a reference to him using a red gem in preference to any other type?
Took a look back at something that he did, noticed on the cover for Forgotten Realms Adventures, there are 4 of them.

Something like 90% to 95% of his artwork features, somewhere in the pic, a rounded red gemstone.

A couple of his other tendencies -- for well-endowed women, wearing very little -- were poked fun at in The Wyvern's Spur, which he did the cover art for!

I picked it up on Monday(the first day my FLGS could release it).

It hasn't left my side since-I've been using it ever since.

It's the first one of the Complete books that I've really liked.

I don't think it's because of the subject matter-if it was, I should have greatly preferred Complete Arcane.

I think it's because it fits together excellently-to a degree that none of the previous Complete books have.

As someone already mentioned in this thread, one of the big problems with 3.5 is the book referencing-go here for blah, go there for bleh-I'm finding Complete Adventurer to be nearly completely antithetical to that. The large number of reprints(gathered from Song and Silence, Masters of the Wild, the Arms and Equipment Guide, the Epic Level Handbook, and a few other places) helps to stave this off. Complete Adventurer doesn't tell you to reference other sources-but other books will likely lead to it.

The prestige classes that necessitate flavor have it, the ones that don't, don't.

Have any of these images served to generate in any scribe here, more interest in this tome than they had previously?

Ah.

So you'll likely have the opportunity to post some thoughts on the general "feel" of the tome, once you've had a chance to review it . . . Yes?

If anyone's using the organization generation system from chapter 6 and any of the classes from any of the Complete books or the XPH, staple these lines onto the ends of tables 6-6 and 6-9:

Table 6-6: Highest Level Members(PC Classes)
Ninja 1d4+community modifier
Scout 1d6+community modifier
Spellblade 1d4+community modifier
Favored Soul 1d6+community modifier
Shugenja 1d4+community modifier
Spirit Shaman 1d4+community modifier
Warlock 1d3+community modifier
Warmage 1d4+community modifier
Wu Jen 1d3+community modifier
Hexblade 1d3+community modifier
Samurai 1d4+community modifier
Swashbuckler 1d6+community modifier
Psion 1d4+community modifier
Psychic Warrior 1d6+community modifier
Soulknife 1d4+community modifier
Wilder 1d4+community modifier

Table 6-9: Community Modifiers

*A thorp or hamlet has a 5% chance to add +10 to the modifier of a ranger, druid, scout, spirit shaman or wilder level.

Its the ussual Complete Mixed bag theres a few useful things like the Scout class basicly a Non Spell casting ranger (This would suit anyone stating Drizzt)

As for its FR compatability you'lll have to wait for my "Complete Faerun" review

I haven't heard about this. What is it? Something you're composing for the main site? It sounds rather interesting...

Im going to do an article covering all 4 of the Complete books which will detail those elements in the Complete books that can be easily converted to the FR and where you'd find them.

That does sound useful indeed . I can't wait for it's completion... Although, since I'm unlikely to pick up Complete Adventurer, my focus will be strictly on the contents from the other three tomes.

The review makes me glad I got it for under $20 on eBay.

I've only flipped thru it, so I've not really formed my own opinion of it.

Although I said I wouldn't, I ended up buying Complete Adventurer, but only because I was curious and then only because my local gaming store was having a sale. So, I managed to pick this up for just under half-price.

Having said that, and having read through the majority of the tome, I feel that the review for it, that SB just linked to, hits pretty close to the mark of how I feel about it. I mean, some of the PrCs are nice, and obviously well-constructed, but others felt like they were just put into the tome to round out the number of classes included in the tome.

Perhaps some of the PrCs should have been dropped in favor of more material on how to use specific classes in a complete adventuring-oriented role.

Hmm, overall I liked the Complete series for the most part, but then again, I got them for revised material mostly.

I enjoyed the Complete Adventurer in the same way that I enjoy all the core material. I cherry pick what’s good for me and my game. The new classes, a few PrC’s, a couple of feats, etc.

Overall, however, it wasn't the greatest book. But I tend to have that feeling about most of the generic, non-world specific stuff.
