I am near the end of Condemnation but have not read Extinction yet as it is not in paperback format. But a thought occurred to me as I was reading. Is there a connection between Pharaun and Vhaeraun? Their names seem quite similar and there was mention early on that Pharaun’s character changed after a judgment by Lolth herself spared him. He is constantly at odds with the females of the group and verbally challenging them as often as he can. Is he perhaps a chosen in disguise (and he himself does not realize it, similar to the mortal mage Midnight)? Or am I just making connections that are not there?

A Chosen of Vhaeraun? Having read all of Condemnation and Extinction, I just don't see it. But, anything is possible with the motley group that is found within WOTSQ. |

You are probably right Sirius, I know I am probably grasping at thin air... Pharaun is not my favorite character of the group, but I do feel there is more to him than meets the eye. I just finished up Condemnation this afternoon and with the 5th novel coming out next month I am sorely tempted to order the HC of Extinction rather than wait for the paperback.

I think that statement can apply to everyone within the group.

No idea on what you'd have to pay for that in your area. However, I can only state that the series maintains its excellent level throughout the books I have read so far. |

I'd try the local library, first. I just took advantage of the one closest to me to read a book that just came out in HC, because I didn't wanna wait a year for it to hit paperback. |

I agree Sirius.I haven't read Extinction yet,and just finished Comdemnation.I don't really see any connection between the two other than their names sounding the same.I also agree with the level that the novels have been written at.Excellent work from Thomas,Richard, and ......Richard so far.

I can't really see much of a Vhaeraunite bent to Pharaun. Despite his chafing at the matriarchy, he is in his own way a reasonably devout follower of Lolth - he's been impressed by the awful beauty and power of the goddess ever since the mystical rite of passage that was forced upon him in his youth. |
