Greetings, sages!
While I've been away from the boards for some time, my fascination with the Realms has not abated, and so, as one might imagine, their recent cinematic treatment (Honor Among Thieves, 2023) has sparked many a curious reflection!
Specifically: at several points in the film, Thayan characters speak to one another in what is presumably their native language. Is anyone aware of any public discussion by the film's cast, writers, etc., as to how (much) they developed the Thayan language for the movie? Like, how does the grammar work, how much vocabulary did they create beyond what's actually spoken in dialogue? Also, what are some canon sources with examples they might have drawn from?
Thanks for any insights!

Welcome back!
I have nothing constructive to add to the discussion but I want to reiterate that you have one of the best usernames I've ever seen, and I wish I'd thought of it myself. |

You know, I hadn't thought about this topic until you brought it up, but damn... now I'm interested, as I've long been interested in all things Thayan. I can't wait to see the movie come out on DVD so I can buy it and replay it. I bet there's a lot of easter eggs I missed. |

There's Tom Costa's article in Dragon Annual 4 that notes Thayan as a dialect of Mulhorandi and being similar to the following real world languages - Hamitic, Ancient Egyptian, Coptic, Berber. |
