If you are looking for a Forgotten Realms campaign online there are seveal programs that you can use.
OpenRPG is a free program that allows you to play D&D online. It has dice and map features along with character sheets, dice, etc. I think its a very good program. http://www.openrpg.com. If you like OpenRPG you may want to check out http://www.avidgamers.com/frcitizen The Living Web. Its a group of players and DMs that use OpenRPG in a shared world.
There is also WebRPG. Similar to OpenRPG, WebRPG allows you to play D&D online and it has a nice interface. Unfortunately, WebRPG is not free so you will need to have a DM and players willing to pay for the service. It has a great interface and if you are willing to pay $3 a month it may be worth it.
Finally there is GRIPs. I don't have any personal experience with GRIPs so I cannot say how good it is. With GRIPs you purchase the software once and then you can use it as much as you'd like.
Of course there are other places you can go to play D&D online but I have found that the ones I mentioned best simulate the tabletop experience.
