Now that we are talking about coins, is there any info about the currency used in Imaskar or its descendant states? I will appreciate any help.

Instead of seeking change, you prefer a void, merciless abyss of a world...

The main question I would have.... did they use coins or SOMETHING ELSE as currency? I would imagine it was coinage and someone will come up with something where it shows them trading, but it might be interesting to think about other things that people might trade in. After all, if someone had told me twenty years ago that we would be trading in virtual coins that anyone can create by making their computer spend cycles to "create" encrypted bits.... I would have thought they'd seen too much star trek.

Some of the things we might note in order to come up with alternate trades or currencies are things about their society:

They had portals

They built on batrachi lore, which built on sarrukh lore that they found in the lands around the Alamber sea... but they were also seemingly trained by some fey.

They travelled to other worlds rather than raiding heavily within their own. In many ways, I think we could picture them like the "stargate" show with a darker spin on it. Perhaps they traded with other worlds?

One of their number, Madryoch, discovered the plane of shadow before the netherese did.

From one world in particular, that was particularly low magic, they took a bunch of slaves.

They were involved with the celestial nadir (an extraplanar place to "safely" experiment with magic)

They seem to have some ties with crystals

They were involved with studying the art of extradimensional spaces heavily (SIDENOTE: did they learn of this art from djinn and their lamps, just an idea that might fit in with Zakharan cultures being survivor states to its south).

So, with that said, it would seem that it MAY have traded heavily "offworld". Maybe they often traded more with gems and tradebars between worlds, as well as possibly magical beast parts unobtainable in other worlds or in Faerun. But the average person would still need to trade, but need it have been coinage? The average person would have been trading for their daily needs (food, building materials, etc...), so perhaps their might have been some other intrinsic material that they might have traded that wasn't cumbersome to carry? Anything come to mind?

Alavairthae, may your skill prevail

Before I realized that the land hadn't always been so sandy, I had the Imaskari using "coins" made of thick/hard glass that didn't break easily. The glass was usually in the form of disks with holes in them that could be strung easily.

The Old Grey Box and AD&D for me!
