Hello after wandering through this land for quite some time now, I decided to step off the shadows with a litle help from Alaundo.
And so i ask the sages
What happened to tilverton? and more important whats its current state?
i've heard many rumors on it, but im sure the truth can be found here of all places.

The truth can be found in the Return of the Archwizards novels or also now in the Player's Guide. There is also a short story about Tilverton in the novel filled with short stories dealing with Shade.
Vangy created a magical thingie that tried to turn back the shade's magic and the two basically canceled each other out but in the mean time the two magics destroyed every living being in Tilverton. |
For some of us, books are as important as almost anything else on earth. What a miracle it is that out of these small, flat, rigid squares of paper unfolds world after world, worlds that sing to you, comfort and quiet and excite you... Books are full of the things that you don't get in real life - wonderful, lyrical language, for instance, right off the bat. - Anne Lamott, Bird by Bird

The actual book in the trilogy that details Tilverton's destruction is Book II, The Siege. The Player's Guide to Faerun that Kuje mentioned does a nice job of summarizing the whole series including this part. Well worth it if you don't wish to read the whole trilogy.
There was also a Dungeon issue that featured an adventure set around the vicinity of Tilverton: Issue 88's The Door from Everywhere by Roger E. Moore. |

Finally some insight. I thank you fellow sages for sharing this information with me. Perhaps now I will have to visit the great libraries to learn more of this incident and the objects in question that have caused so much destruction. |

Do a search for Shades and Tilverton using the search function above and you might be able to find more scrolls with other details on the event. |

I know that this topic is quite old now but there is no point in creating a new one concerning Tilverton. My question, dear sages, is what happened to the ruler of the city, Alasalynn Rowanmantle? |

I'm doing some research on this area now, doing a Stonelands campaign map for someone.
In a thread over at WotC, Brian James mentioned that there is a new Tilverton being built a few miles away now.
If Brian's out there listening, would you happen to know in what direction from the ruins of Old Tilverton the new town lies? I placed it southwest on my map, but now I realize that the town of Halfhap already occupies that spot. Any new info (barring NDAs) would be appreciated. |

The new tilverton is discussed in Realms of Shadow anthology. |

Thanks for that, Sage, twas most helpful.
Does anyone know in which deirection the new town is from the old? I tried putting it to the west this time, but thats where Griffin Hill is - it seems every time I decide where to place the new one I find another town. |

Unless the reference in Realms of Shadow made particular note of that tidbit, I don't immediately recall learning from the Realmslore, in which direction the new Tilverton is built. Perhaps Grand History will reveal a little more...
