A campaign of mine has taken a turn into the Underdark. It looks like they're going to be spending a long period of time under the surface. A very long period. Anyway, I'll use this scroll to post most all related to this campaign: new content, questions, and such. Oh, and can anyone remember any D&D jobs that I said I'd do? I accidentally shredded my list. I can remember the Epic Adventure commitment, the Grovewarden of Eldath PrC(must remember to post that!), and The Sage's play-by-email campaign, but beyond that, it's black...

Arivia, a while back (I can't remember the specific date for sure, since, it was a long time past), you mentioned something about posting some highly specialised magical elven boots that you'd generated some ideas for. If I remember correctly, you wanted some of us (that this, the senior scribes of Candlekeep) to go over you ideas and suggest some possibilities...
I can't remember any more than that unfortunately. Although, if it helps, it was around the time the several Far Realm discussion scrolls were the focus of many scribes here.

Wow, I'd really forgotten about that...I'll have to find my notes on that, let alone the scroll...
Anyway, this campaign hasn't really started yet. It is a one-on-one experience though(over AIM, of all things). I'll post more when I have more time, but I can provide a link to the player's character sheet...http://3ep.rpgprofiler.net/3ep/view.php?id=5564...I've relaxed a few things, as this is the player's second D&D campaign... |

Okay, a larger amount of information.
I began with taking the first half of City of the Spider Queen apart. I've turned the PCs that would normally run through the adventure into a group of NPCs, and made the Inverted Tower into a training ground for sorcerers. As such, the PC is one of Solom Ned'razak's apprentices, and resides in S28(the empty room). As part of an intense weeding procedure, the PC will be out of Szith Morcane on days 4-6 when the NPC adventuring group hacks their way through the city. When the PC returns, she'll find her home in ruins. However, Solom Ned'razak will still be alive... |

Hmmm...I like the idea about the Inverted Tower, especially with regard to sorcerers. Did you make any other significant changes in order to bring the training academy about?.

I did need to play around with the other inhabitants of the Tower slightly. As things are presented in CoSQ, the inhabitants of the Inverted Tower were there before Dorina T'sarran overtook the city at D-15. They simply surrendered and went along with Dorina. However, for a few possible hooks, I needed Solom to be more attached to the Kiaransalee clergy. As such, Solom and his apprentices used to reside in the Shattered Tower, and accompanied Dorina to Szith Morcane as arcane support. When the adventurers attack Szith Morcane, Solom will play along, hoping to increase his power. |

I like it...
It really adds a new level to the CotSQ adventure. I've started to wonder now, about any other possible changes you may have made to the adventure as a whole...?

Okay, Arivia, let's try not closing the tab with the completed response in it next time...
Anyway, Sage, I haven't thought of any other changes that need to be made right now. I'm essentially just dropping a lot of hooks at the player's foot after the destruction of Szith Morcane, and seeing which ones they pull on... |

Okay, just ended the first session. We really didn't get that much done; in fact we had to stop just before the beginning of a combat. So as of now, she's descending into the depths of the chasm in Szith Morcane; at the bottom she'll find the passageway leading to her task: to retrieve a staff-long length of hizagkuur. The passageway will take about three days to travel through, passing through such areas as a zurkwood grove with a few sussur trees and a kobold warren. At the end of the passageway is the ancient, abandoned city of Azahal. I'll be dropping hooks althroughout these areas. |

I can see a number of interesting ways this campaign could take, while the party is making that three-day journey...Anything could happen...
Now, as to the ancient city of Azahal...Which tome is that detailed in?.

Especially as the player never asked what area the length of hizagkuur is in...she just knows it's somewhere along the tunnel.

None of them. I quite like using ancient, unknown, areas in my campaigns. I had originally thought of using Lorosfyr for this, but decided to leave it as an option for later. |

Oh, good idea. It's a technique that I regularly make use of in my own campaigns.
Maybe I'll write-up something about Azahal, for some reason a particular image appeared in my mind's eye, when I spoke the name aloud for the first time...

Go ahead. I've got one or two weeks until it'll come up in the campaign, and I'd love to see what you'd do. |
