I'm always working on various things in my version of the Realms and one is bringing Warforged into Faerun.

One way that I have decided to do it is using ancient Raumathar. I remember reading that Raumvirans used mechanical horrors to hunt down and trap the fiends of Narfell. What I did was take the concept of Warforged and changed it to where thousands of Raumvirans volunteered their lives for the project. Their souls would be removed from their bodies and planted into a humanoid built from metal and wood. There was a problem though, each time this was done the person's memories were wiped clean. The only thing that seemed to remain was their hatred of fiends. They were then sealed in extra dimensional vaults scattered through out Raumathar. Unfortunately they never saw the light of day because both nations destroyed each other. The Battle Men are still waiting to be discoverd.

I was thinking about having them be discovered and be used as a PC. Since their memories were wiped the player would have to give them a whole new personality. I was going to use the Warforged stats and have all Battle Men be decorated in Raumviran runes and all have that hatred of fiends manifest in an ability something like never having Disadvantage versus fiends. I'm still playing around with this.

What do you think? I'm not mad about the name so I'm working on that as well.

I think I'll change the name to Raumathari Fiendslayers.

How about Drith-dakar.

Using some words from George Krashos lore about Narfell and a little bit of star wars (unfortunately its the not very good ones with anakin skywalker in).

I like it! I think Raumathari Fiendslayers could be a bit of a nickname. Drith-dakar sounds perfect!

Cheers Dazz!

Hmmm, didn't someone have a similar idea before?...

The idea of warforged being from Raumathar is indeed one we've put forth before around here. Your idea for how they are created is plausible, but I'm thinking if we're doing Raumathar and souls, why not focus on something a little more intrinsic to the area? For instance, what if they bound the spirits of the land (telthors) into their constructs. Some telthors of intelligent creations may have started down this path, such that we see some precursors to the Vremyonni creating equivalents to animated armor, helmed horrors, etc... I did some of that with my take on the Vremyonni for 5th edition.

Taking that idea a little further, some of the Raumathari wizards may have found a way to permanently bind telthor spirits. Doing it like this makes it much easier to have this be a rare instance and hard to recreate for modern spellcasters, because most don't even truly get what a telthor is. Along these same lines, you could have some rare Raumathari wizards who studied telthors so much that they enabled themselves to become one and then become a warforged, possibly without losing their memories (these of course would be NPC's).

Alavairthae, may your skill prevail
