Hi all. I'm gearing up for my next campaign, and before I delve in I'm trying to ground my players in FR a bit more by sending out my own versions of player packs weekly. These player packs might detail the dwarves one week, the elves next week, and Cormyr the week after that. It will likely centre on Waterdeep and the North, and feature the events of Storm King's Thunder to some extent.

ANYWAY

I have realised that I don't really understand FR elves very well. I do own the 3e sources Races of Faerun and Lost Empires of Faerun, both of which provide some good information... but after reading Dwarves Deep I'm craving a source with a bit more to sink my teeth into. Does a similar text exist detailing the elves?

Thanks in advance.

Cormanthyr: Empire of Elves and Elves of Evermeet both provide a lot of info about the elves. And the original, 2e "The Drow of the Underdark" does that for the drow (including all their faiths).

Thanks for that. It's my understanding Cormanthyr is set in the past and Evermeet is the elves across the ocean, do these also have info for current day mainland elves?

Cormanthyr has also general info on Elves, their mindset, their magic, settlements, and so on. Really good source.

Admittedly, it is not canon, but its some damn good and probably as true to the lore as published materials (unless contradicted by later work). Look up the work done by Phasai (or known around here as Snowblood). I found a lot of it on deviantart

Thanks sleyvas. I'd found that stuff before, but good to know it tries to stay true to canon! I'll definitely give it a closer look now.

Outstanding resources!

"These things also I have observed: that knowledge of our world is
to be nurtured like a precious flower, for it is the most precious
thing we have. Wherefore guard the word written and heed
words unwritten and set them down ere they fade . . . Learn
then, well, the arts of reading, writing, and listening true, and they
will lead you to the greatest art of all: understanding."

demi humans of the realms

why is being a wizard like being a drow? both are likely to find a dagger in the back from a rival or one looking to further his own goals, fame and power

Demihuman Deities has info on the Seldarine, Evermeet: Island of Elves covers the history, and the Cormyr books are a good source for that, too. Races of the Wild isn't FR specific, but it does have good info. Cormanthyr: Empire of the Elves, and Fall of Myth Dannor are good, too, as is the Last Mythal trilogy.

Cormanthyr was released as a free download by Wizards at one point. I know that's where I got my .pdf copy. If Kanzen can't find it, is there any Candlekeep policy preventing me from providing a copy?

Noted, thanks. I did a little digging and saw the discussion that took place when the links were first broken 6-ish years ago. Sorry Kanzen.
