No spoilers yet as I only obtained The Rage today. Anyone else have it yet? I'm looking forward to starting this tonight and discussing the destruction, I mean the changes to the Realms as a result of this series.

| Hmm I didnt know this one was out yet. I was planning on getting this. I'll have to check my stores for it. Is it out for all stores nationwide? |

No idea. I got mine from textbook.com online for $5 and whatever the shipping charge was. Barnes and Noble has it, but they take forever to ship. Think Books a Thousands has it too. Both of the latter companies are listing it as shipping within 2-3 days. |

Most of the novels as of late have been coming out early. I hope the trend continues with Ed Greenwood's latest offering that is set to arrive shortly. |

Kinzua is part of the Allegheny National Forest in Pennsylvania.Up along the border with New York State.I was up there ona fishing trip.When I got home,a few days later is when I registered here at Candlekeep.The name stuck I guess.I'm actually from Pittsburgh.
Enough of that though.Now mind you.I haven't finished The Rage yet.Where in the Nine Hells is Ylraphon on the map?????Richard??Someone??Anyone?? |

The WotC site now has a character sketch of Dorn Graybrook, one of the central characters from The Rage.
The sketch doesn't contain any information that you won't learn (in, I hope, a more entertaining way) by reading the novel, but I still thought I'd mention its existence in case anyone wants to check it out. |

Sirius: Having read The Rage, you already know the basics of Taegan's bio. As far as a thumbnail sketch like the one of Dorn goes, none currently exists. I wrote the Dorn profile at WotC's request. If they ask for others to promote Books 2 and 3, one might be Taegan, or, it might not. I'd decide at the time.
Someone suggested I write up the central characters of the trilogy, complete with gaming stats, for Dragon. I'm thinking about that, but haven't decided if I want to query the editor about doing it (which would pretty much commit me) or tackle a different project.
Vedsica: If the cover for The Rite is done, nobody's bothered to show it to me. I have been told that the four covers (for the three novels and the anthology) will fit together to make one uber-illustration of a flight of raging dragons attacking a town. Each cover will showcase a different breed of dragon. I was asked to suggest specific breeds of dragons but have no idea whether Matt Slawicki used my suggestions. I've never had any direct communication with him.
Which is par for the course. In my experience, the author generally has little or no say in the cover art, design, etc. Maybe superstar writers like King, Grisham, and Clancy do, but not guys on my rung of the ladder. WotC is actually somewhat more interested in getting the writer's input than most publishers I've worked with. They ask sometimes, and sometimes go with what you suggest.
Anyway, since they used the dragons-attack-a-town idea, none of my specific characters will be on any of the covers. If they were going to be, I'd certainly like to see pictures of Taegan, Jivex, Dorn, Kara, Raryn, Pavel, and Will.
But I think the cover of The Rage is very nice, and expect the others to be also, so I'm well satisfied with what I'm getting. |

Nice to hear that and thank you for replying. The best story I ever heard regarding writer/artist communication came for Elaine Cunningham sharing her conversations with Todd Lockwood regarding the new paperback versions of her Starlight & Shadows series. Interesting as Mr. Lockwood is also responsbile for some very fine covers for Mr. Salvatore's new Drizzt series. I wonder if he talked to the author in that case as well. |

I like the cover very much myself.I really like the bright yellow color of the letters.Also the style of letters.It really stands out.Plus the dragons vaporizing the townsfolk.That gets it's props as well. |

Involved and a very big role. You also get a very interesting take on the origins for Dragon Rages at the novel's conclusion. |

Its a good read, Im rather disapointed about the map though as it doesnt put names to alot of the places mentioned in the book

I know what you mean about the map. A little more detail would have been nice. Not knowing what kind of map I'd wind up with, I tried to indicate geographical relationships in the text, so I hope readers won't get too lost. If someone does, I guess he can always take a peek at the fold-out map in the back of the Forgotten Realms Campaign Setting. |

At the start of the novel, I quite often got up to go into my study and reference the FRCS. I just am not as knowledgeable about the area you were writing in as I am with other areas of Faerun.
I'm quite happy with any map in a novel as long as it's fairly well done. Cheers to WOTC for including it. |

Well I finally got my hands on a copy of The Rage at my local hobby store today. I think the cover and internal layout (the lopsides logo and misaligned text) looks great  Cant wait to get stuck in!
Still hoping that the Lady of Poison cover isnt like its shown though  Wheres the reasoning behind that, I ask!? |

Mr Byer's said atm he has no stat's for his characters but if there is a demand for them then he might see if Dragon is interested in printing them. Check his sticky thread in this forum. :) |
