A couple of monk related questions:

First of all, I'd like to fish for ideas on how to incorporate monks in 5E that follow the "Way of Four Elements", which is a predominantly elemental power focused pathway. The "feel" of the path seems to be using ki to assist in channel of the energy of the raw elements.

I was originally thinking about using powers like Akadi and Grumbar as divine patrons for the pathway, but they feel too tied to a single elemental force. Akadi wouldn't look kindly on the creation of fire effects for instance, and the monk path doesn't restrict you to a single element type.

At the moment my best idea is to shoe-horn them in as a branch of the Shining Hand monks devoted to wizardry, and say that their training focuses on using their ability to control ki to channel the Weave into creating certain elemental effects.

Has anyone else thought about a way to do this, or can think of something better?

Second question briefly: opinions on non-lawful monks? I can imagine some Goku-like (Dragonball Z) natural learners, thoughts on these in the Realms?

Regional maps for Waterdeep, Triboar, Ardeep Forest, and Cormyr on DM's Guild, plus a campaign sized map for the North

Regarding divine patrons, despite his chaotic alignment, his would seem to be the religion that could fit them the best as an overall. That being said, they could also follow the elemental lords, depending on how its done. Personally, I think they fit Thayan culture beautifully.

I can see the Way of the Four Elements having an (eastern) origin on a monstrous or planar race, such as Ogre Mages or Gith'zerai. I have included an orc cabal in my home game that has learned the style from a oni-deamon and mastered it quite quickly, with a female grandmaster that had rebelled against her warlord and split a large part of his clan when she died on Toril and they followed her to 'her paradise', an eternal battle on Gehenna.
