I'm running a campaign for my players and when asked which realm they wanted to set the story within, Forgotten Realms was unanimous. For a DM more familiar with Kyrnn or Athas, this answer was a little intimidating. Since we've started I've learned to love the history of the realms and how easy it can be to whip up a story with a little digging and a good map.
And that's how you find me here still with my dirty shovel and haphazard map. I can't thank you enough for keeping this site up from the days of TSR since I'm the only member of our group that knows what THAc0 is. Finding classic resources is a special blend of nostalgic thrill at showing my friends something new to them, and maniacal glee because I recall 2nd Ed being rather vicious at times.
I'm already enjoying reading through the Running the Realms forums. I look forward to seeing what else has been concocted over the years.
Feel free to ask any questions you may have... A lot of us have been Realms fans for years, and we know a thing or three about the setting. Plus, we've got some of the authors and creators here!
As for the rest of us, we are friendly, mostly harmless, and occasionally strange... Enjoy your stay!
