No idea how to use it. But this is a cipher wheel? for Espruar and Dethek that came with the hillsfar dos game.

Nice find. I'd love to figure out how to use it. Could make for an interesting puzzle maker for my home games.

The wheel is a decoder device. When you start the game you are required to decode a security question. The answer is found by adjusting the wheel. Sometimes during the game you also might be asked to decode something. If the game you have does not offer the security question, someone disabled that part of the program.

"Small beings can have small wisdom," the dragon said. "And small wise beings are better than small fools. Listen: Wisdom is caring for afterwards."
"Caring for afterwards ...? Ker repeated this without understanding.
"After action, afterwards," the dragon said. "Choose the afterwards first, then the action. Fools choose action first."

Aye, I get that part. I'm just having a headache figuring out how I'd print this pdf out to use it in the manner it was intended.

as intended? idk you'd have to be pretty crafty, and i would imagine there is a matrix behind the wheel, so copying that and then getting the symbols to turn on their own...

One of these also came with the Pool of Radiance game. There was at least one instance in the game where you used it to translate from Espruar to english so you could read something.
All of those old "Gold Box Games" are currently being sold by GOG.com I think it is.
I'm tempted by the nostalgia of it, but those games are so old and archaic I'm not sure I could do it.
"Sigh" Pool of Radiance was literally my intro to the Realms. Good times.
