Yeah me too ArionElenim!!! WotSQ is one of the best FR series of all time! Also dying to read Erevis Cale book 2..... but going by that trilogy and also by WotSQ and the new Year of the Rogue Dragons trilogy, it seems like WotSQ are leaving a year between books |

Well my 7 year long starvation is over. Finally found a place that sold FR books and I've just finished reading the first of four that I bought. Wasn't the best that I've read but was still good to finally dig in again. |

My latest Realms-based short story, about a bard, a paladin of Lathander and the letter of the law, Debts Repaid. It takes place before the "shattering" and gives the bard Arion a last gasp before he plunges into the present.http://candlekeep.com/campaign/logs/log-debts.htm |

Slowly eating away at my FR novel backlog...... after reading Prince of Lies and then Crucible straight after, I needed a bit of a break from the gods and went for a city setting with Masquerades (Harpers 10), just finished that today so now im about to start reading The Lone Drow. |

Rad, Is Crucible hard to find used? I haven't seen but a couple of copies of it used and I missed out on them. |

Ive never bought an FR novel that isnt brand new but im sure there must be some copies of Crucible out there. However, it is being re-released this month as part of the newly-packaged Avatar Series. Much smarter. All we need now is Avatar Series part 6 - The Return of Bane |

Yay... finally took the time and money (about $35) to get The Lone Drow, The Sapphire Crescent, and The Best of the Realms... and i'll probably just start to read RAS's short story from BotR tomorrow at work... since that's the only new story.... then will come the lone drow and then sapphire crescent.. :P tho i'll only read them at work on breaks and such so as to not have to go another month (or few) before the next book comes out... and i'll have nothing else to do on my breaks... |

I haven't read nearly as many of the novels as I should have. Here's what I currently have under my belt:
Salvatore: Icewind Dale Trilogy - Where it all began in Junior High. Dark Elf Trilogy The Cleric Quintet - only the first 2 books Legacy of the Drow series - all 5 Paths of Darkness - all The Thousand Orcs
War of the Spider Queen series: (the best FR series ever! ) Dissolution Insurrection - absolutely fantastic book! Condemnation
The Harpers: 1 - Parched Sea 2 - Elfshadow 3 - Red Magic 4 - The Night Parade 5 - Ring of Winter - about halfway through this snoozer 6 - Crypt of the Shadow King 7 - Soldiers of Ice 8 - Elfsong 14 - Stormlight (will read others soon)
The Avatar series - the first 3 and working on Prince of Lies
Daughter of the Drow - honestly, not a big fan of Cunningham
Realms of Shadow - anthology
The Nether Scroll - still working on it
Magehound
Temple Hill
Halls of Stormweather
Others soon to come...

Not bad at all, Maecenus of Westgate
Just wondered, what do you think to Stormlight? That, along with Finders Bane is the only Harpers novels I havent read.
...and I totally agree with you regarding WotSQ!! Well, joint first place with Sembia Series anyway |

Stormlight was a bit of a dissapoint as the plot seemed flawed somewhat. Ed Greenwood's writing style can be a bit overly dramatic sometimes.
Sounds like I really need to pick up the Sembia series, as well as Threat from the Sea and Return of the Archwizards.
Anyone have any idea when Extinction is due out? |

Extinction is due out at the end of January (cant wait!!!)
Definately get Sembia, its fantastic!!!
Both Threat from the Sea and Return of the Archwizards started off excellently but they seemed to loose it on the last book in the trilogy. I think that WotC had big ideas for both series but then decided to really tone it done in the end for some reason. |

Sorry this took a while to answer... well I'm not sure how popular they are in the eastern states of Australia, but in Perth which is in Western Australia, there not that big. The major bookstores only stock a few of the newer FR novels (including reprinted versions). The most I've come across in a store containing FR novels (2 max of the same book on display although they might have some at the back in the storage room) was 5/6. As to D&D although I don't read any of them, I've seen 2... The Plague of Ice and something else (I think that was it's name but if it wasn't it was something along those lines).
As to me being up-to-date with reading FR novels, well that's going to be a long wait. Well I'll not dissillusion myself in being the first to read all FR novels ever published but I've read some old and some new... in short I'm all over the place at the moment, re-reading the old ones to rejog the memory, the ones I missed out on in the past and the newer FR novels just for fun. |

I want to know what books i should get after i finish the Silent Blade series. ive heard from the posts that the sembia series is very good but i dont know what it is about. also what are some books about the realms history. i heard the mention of a few in the posts just wondering if there are any more |

You must be living in an alternate reality version of 'Perth' then Lina.... In all of the bookstores, and shopping center bookstores that I have visited, I have never encountered any shortage of FR novels. In fact, just over this last year I have been noticing that a lot of other locations around the city are now starting to supply various novels in the FR series and DL saga - when before there was nothing of this fantasy type.
Oh well...

Well I finished Cruicible (after learning for here, that it's part of the Avatar trilogy)... Yep still hate the gods. Reading Temptation of Eliminster, Got E in hell to follow that up... I have yet to read Thousand Orcs.... Odd.. I buy books that contain Characters I loathe... but can't help it.I'm dyin' to see the die!!!
However... I'M STILL WAITING FOR THE NEXT WotSQ...I hope Lolth can set her house in order.... I hope for Gromph... Actually I'm rooting for the Drow race in general. And after this is all done I hope they get back to what really matters.. Making others miserable... I wonder if the the Drow will ever be the same after this...Actually Lolth is the only god(dess) that i don't have anything against. Odd as it is, she actually does her job.... Which earns me a dislike of a certain Ranger, a Faerie, A Gynosphinx, a Fighter... and a talking badger as well a curiosity for a rather Baatezu-esc Marilith. ANYWAYS!!! Down with the Gods.. except Lolth, Down with False Drow (like Elistraee and Drizzt), Oh and sage, I've thought of some other thing's of the Far Realms...Which I will post in the Far Realms topic shortly... well that's about it... ...Ta. |

Well after I finished The Lone Drow, I had a break from FR (shhhhh, dont tell Alaundo) and read I, Strahd: The Memoires of a Vampire (Ravenloft) and then quickly back to FR and went on to read The Crimson Gold (excellent!!) and The Sapphire Crescent (WOW!)
Looks like the quality of FR novels is at a high |

You must get around quite a bit then Sage which is probably why you find a lot more on the shelves. Actually I have noticed that recently the bookshops in my area are starting to stock up on FR books but they're the one's that I already have. It's a little harder to find something that I do want to buy coz it's out of stock or hasn't reached the shelves yet. Oh well... guess I'll have to wait. (I hate shopping) |

Ok so its not Forgotten Realms but I just finished reading a novel that I very highly recommend - Its a Ravenloft novel: Heart of Midnight. An excellent story that took me by surprise and the whole novel just oozes that gothic flavor and eerie atmosphere!
Now hurry up with that WotSQ: Extinction before Alaundo punishes me for straying from the Realms and into Ravenloft! Even though he has recently admitted traveling there himself

That's a little scary Rad. After just finishing reading the latest RL Gazetteer I was thinking about re-reading through my collection of RL novels. I was going to start with one of my all-tome favorites which just happens to be Heart of Midnight...

I certianly feel quite like the novice among people who read this much. I currently own about 11 FR novels and i pretty much enjoyed them all, The Avatar Series, Shandrils Saga and The Dark Elf trilogy! The Avatar series was very apealing to my, because i'm quite the "religion jock", If anybody can recommend a book "heavy" on the gods it would be greatly appreciated! |

Well, which books comprise your 'Avatar' series?. I normally include the 'Avatar' trilogy, 'Shadow of the Avatar' trilogy, and the two 'Cyric' novels...Prince of Lies, and Crucible: The Trial of Cyric the Mad. Is this what you are talking about?. These novels all deal with the Avatar crisis, and are particularly "heavy" on the gods as you say.

true, there is a campaign book, Faiths and Avatars, i think, that is also quite "heavy on the gods" It deals with almost all Faerunian gods, demipowers, and those of elves, dwarves, and orcs even! |
The Chosen of Vhaeraun "Nature is governed by certain immutable rules. By virtue of claw and fang, the lion will always triumph over the goat.Given time, the pounding of the sea will wear away the stone. And when dark elves mingle with the lighter races, the offspring invariably take after the dark parent. It is all much the same. That which is greater shall prevail. Our numbers increase steadily, both through birth and conquest. The dark elves are the dominant race, so ordained by the gods." Ka'Narlist of the Ilythiiri. |

Yes, I was aware of this, but thank you anyway Alaundo .
I was just in the habit of looking at my own books when remembering which novels comprised the 'Avatar' storyline...all those nice first-edition printings that they are...

I just finished the last book from Salvatore; The Lone Drow and I did like it. a lot of battle scenes and drizzt evolves a bit more.
Am I the onlyone waiting for Drizzt and Cattie-Bri to become a couple? I start to get a bit angry actually, I have been waiting for that to happend since... the forth book i think, now Cattie-Brie are getting old and Drizzt is just touching his first century.
SPOILER!!!
