I recently read Murder in Cormyr. What an amazing book!! VERY well done, a great plot, great setting and very eerie flavor. I highly recommend this novel and enjoyed it from start to finish.
Prior to that, I read Elminster in Hell (quite enjoyable overall)and The Temptation of Elminster (didn't enjoy it)
I also bit the bullet and read Once Around the Realms... yup, it really is as bad as they say
Currently, i'm reading Final Gate (loving it!! I've posted a few comments in the book club section of the forum for those who are interested).
So my backlog FR reading is coming to an end. The remaining novels I have to read are:
Elminster's Daughter The Maztica Trilogy |

Really? I just got a copy there today.
Not that I understand what all the Last Mythal hype is all about. I still believe it is one of the most overpraised FR series I've seen in a long time. However, being the Realms fan that I am, it is in my "to read" pile.
I've been on hiatus from FR reading for quite a while now (a few months), but I'm going to get back into it now. Hence, why I've been away for a while. |

Glad to hear it, Rinonalyrna. It must have been awful for thee I hope a fresh dose of Realms reading gets thee back on the straight and narrow |

I know what he means.
When I finish up The Lost Library of Cormanthyr I'll be reading (*gasp*!) Final Gate. |

Hmm, I wasn't sure if ye had obtainted a copy of the tome yet, Beezy, as ye tend to be a regular in the book club and I noticed thy absence therein.
Edit: Ahh, just noticed thy post in the final thread |

*grins* Of course I'll share my thoughts on Lost Library. Thanks for giving me a link. And while I didn't care for the way the characters in the first two Last Mythal books were sketched out, I'm hoping the last book will be as good as you say.
By the way, I like Lost Library very much so far--it seems to be about the value of lore, and I'm interested in the idea of Realms archeologists. |

| Just had finished reading the Ruin and City of Splendors novel, both are very good reads and I am reading them again. |

Hmmm... Been absent from these fine boards for too long.
Let's see...
Just read 'The Sapphire Crescent', which is set in a part of the Realms I'm not really familiar with. Verrry enjoyable novel - pretty well written and plotted with some truly odious villains and one particularly unusual fight with a creature I've never encountered before. Good stuff.
Also read 'The Wyvern's Spur' and have just started 'Song of the Saurials'. 'The Wyvern's Spur' was simply fabulous. Really really enjoyed it. Too early to tell with 'Song of the Saurials', but I'm expecting similar.
Sorry to potentially upset people (particularly Rinonalyrna! ), but I didn't care for 'The Lost Library of Cormanthor' much, for reasons that I might talk about later...
Love to all,

| I have over 20 FR novels in my collection. Not as many as I would like but I only have so much time. As for my current reading, just yesterday I picked up Blackstaff. I am 4 chapters in and thoroughly enjoying it. |

If you are so inclined, feel free to drop by the book club for Blackstaff and discuss the novel (which I will be doing as well, soon, as long as my book stores ante up the novel soon . . . )

Thank you kind sir for the tip. Now, if you will refer back to the book club you will see my short, simple opinion of the novel so far. I will no doubt be posting more as I delve further into the book. |

Well, I had to take a break from book 5 of the WotSQ series -- three books came out that I really wanted to read (and one was a Realms novel, Final Gate), so I was only too happy to set book 5 aside for a while.
But I just finished Final Gate, so now it's back to the drow... at least until that box from Amazon arrives, and I can eagerly dive into Blackstaff! |

I'm so jealous...I hope it's in my neaby bookstores by tommorrow, although I'm not finished with Final Gate yet. |

Hello-
You know - I'm on vacation this week! However - that means I'll have to go IN to work to get the book!
I guess I'll check online to see if its in - and put a reserve in on it.
So much for staying away from work the whole week!

Well, my copy of Blackstaff is still on pre-order... but I'm putting aside two others books I'm reading at the moment to work my way through Steven's grand work.
A fitting enough tribute, I think.

Ditto. Mine shipped today, but isn't expected to deliver until Monday.
You know what's ironic about that? I just got some CDs from Japan, and they were in my hand less than 48 hours after leaving Tokyo. If CDJapan can ship CDs to the other side of the world in 2 days, why can't Amazon get me a book in less than a week? |

I'm going to finish Final Gate (about 100 pages left to go), then it's on to Blackstaff, which I got today. |
