I just finished The Sapphire Crescent and I could beat myself senseless for loaning out my copy of The Ruby Guardian. Wow, the Sapphire Crescent was great. No "fate of Faerun in the balance," no untouchable heroes, the church of Waukeen (very cool,) a smart plot, well developed characters... I could praise this book for an hour, just read it.

Yes, I really enjoyed the novel again the second time around and really feel it is one of the best Realms novels ever.

I gotta admit, that first name has always bugged me. I like the name Artemis, but that's the name of one of my faves of the Greek goddesses, not the name of a male assassin!

As a side note, I've also named my computer Artemis, and there's an IT company in town by that name, too.

This is really out of topic..

But i must argue. In my opinion it's really good name. It's a bit different comparing to other's character's names to me. I have nothing to complain about it(;but XD it's name of FEMALE goddess).

Haven't responded to this thread in a while. I still do have every FR novel out there, including all the paperbacks, hardcopies with jackets, all reprints and originals, all collector's editions and gift sets. And I have read them all except I am currently reading "Best of Realms, Book II" and up next will be "Farthest Reach" and then "Maiden of Pain". In case anyone is interested, I do have a very nice list of ALL novels in a word document. If you would like a copy, you can email me at JKLangUNLV@aol.com

I haven't counted the books I've read, but the last two I've read are the Cormyr series (Which, for the most part, I found rather excellent, especially since I like the realm so much), and Elminster's Daughter, which I heartily recommend.

Hopefully I'll be able to snag a copy of the best of the realms collection, soon.

After The Ogre's Pact, I went on to read the following two books in the trilogy (and am still buying the rereleases too).

I then read King Pinch, which was an average read, nothing special. And have just started War in Tethyr. Once i've finished that, i'll be left with just Mage in the Iron Mask and The Simbul's Gift, out of The Nobles series. I'll be glad to get that series out of the way, to be honest.

However, the next two novels on my list are The Emerald Sceptre and City of Splendors, without a doubt. I'll likely end up dropping War in Tethyr mid-read for these

After The Nobles is out the way, that just leaves me with:

The Elminster Series
The Maztica Trilogy
The Netheril Trilogy
The Baldur's Gate Trilogy
The Double Diamond Triangle Saga
The "Realms of.." Anthologies

Pool of Radiance
The Glass Prison
Once Around the Realms
Murder in Cormyr
Murder in Halruaa

About to start The City of Splendors novel by Ed Greenwood and Elaine Cunningham. I wasn't a fan of the cover art when displayed online. However, up close, J.P. Targete's art is nice to behold. I'm looking forward to seeing what part of the novel the cover art depicts.

Well, SB, having read the novel, I can’t tell you which precise scene it is, myself.
Neither can Ed, although he guesses it’s an “offstage” scene involving one of the Gemcloaks (the color of the cloak will hint at whom) and someone else whose identity we can all guess at, but not know for certain.
I’ll tease WotC and see what explanation they come up with, okay?

Fair enough and thank you. Being into the novel now, I figured it might be one of the Gemcloaks. As for an explanation...artist's license? It would not be the first cover art that did not match any scene within a novel it was used for.

You’re very welcome, SB, and I suspect you’re right about the artistic license.
One of these days, I should nudge Ed to pass me one of his old “art orders” for cover suggestions that TSR and now WotC always request (and then cheerfully ignore). I’m sure they’d be fascinating reading for Candlekeep scribes - - though for obvious reasons, Ed would have to yield up one of the old TSR art orders (before the days of tight NDAs and tightly-worded contracts, when these things weren’t covered by any legal restrictions because, ahem, [if my understanding is correct, and it may not be] Ed wasn’t supposed to be asked to write them in the first place).
love,
THO

Well, I just finished Resurrection and I'm now moving on with Farthest Reach.

As soon as that's done, and the Sage has finished reading it, I'll be on to City of Splendors.

Fortunately, the Lady K had dropped my second copy of ED... since I have a tendency to buy two copies of every one of Ed's FR releases -- its been that way since my original copy of Crown of Fire mysteriously disappeared a week after I'd purchased it.
