Wooly, I know that you play one. A friend has expressed interest in this class, where can I find more information? I found a few homebrew efforts out there.

I believe 2E Spelljammer lore offered a gun-related kit or two - for giffs. Planescape offers unlimited possibilities for gun magic as well, particularly if it originates somewhere near Baator.

And I recall a few classes/kits designed for crazed tinker gnomes which focus on bizarre inventions (steam-powered Rube-Goldberg-meets-Jules-Verne sort of stuff), alchemy, incendiaries, and explosives. Not quite gun mages and not quite Realmslore.

Edit: Iron Kingdoms is a fine setting filled with some fantastic technomagic marvels like gun mages. Savage Coast (nominally set in Mystara but easily translocated) offers a setting-unique version of gunpowder and plenty of exciting options for gunslinging swashbucklers and duellists. Good sources to steal ideas from.

My GM has me using this homebrew version, for our Pathfinder game:
https://ikm2011.obsidianportal.com/wikis/gun-mage

We've tweaked it a bit, though. Regular spell levels instead of the described spell-point system, and he gave me the option between getting gunslinger abilities, or gaining spells like a regular sorcerer. I chose the latter.

The class was originally written for 3.x. Privateer Press had a free download of the class on their site for a while, but it's either been taken down or shuffled off to some forgotten corner. I've got a copy of that pdf, if you'd like. Just PM me your email addy.

Short version of the class: gun mages are sorcerers who can channel some of their spells thru their pistols. It starts with rays, but eventually includes touch and ranged touch attacks. They get some other pistol tricks, too, like being able to see thru their gun or teleporting it into their hand... But the channeling spells part is the coolest bit. It is quite delightful to shoot a bad guy with a vampiric touch or a shocking grasp.

Imagine a githyanki special ops squad, armed with silver rifles, cloaked in illusion, and trained in the deadly art of sniper magic.
