Olore!

I discovered this site after listening to the Ed Greenwood interview on mortality.net. Good stuff! (Referring to both the interview and this website)

A little background on me: been gaming for about 12 years; first discovered the Realms through the DC comics (remember those?) then one day I saw a gray box at the bookstore, it had a cool-looking nomad on it as well as the FR logo. I picked it up and the rest was history. Some of my best high school memories are of weekends spent exploring Mr. Greenwood's world with my friends.

An interesting quirk with me and the Realms is that I have read very little of the extensive FR novels line, and practically none of the "important" ones. At first it was only because I happened to read other novels, whether general fantasy or other TSR worlds, particularly the line with the dragons and long spears (didn't want to upset the hardcore FR fans with profane mutterings) I then deliberately avoided FR novels in order to make the Realms in my campaign a little more my own, without the influence of events in those stories.

While that way of thinking helped my campaign back then, it has the downside that I feel a little lost in the "new" Realms. Don't get me wrong, I love the 3e Realms (I remember practically wetting myself in anticipation of the new book), but I'm slowly trying to catch up from about 1365 DR, if not earlier. Let's just say I have a lot of reading to do!

I give my heartfelt thanks to Mr. Greenwood for sharing his wonderful world with us and thanks to the people of this site for a wonderful venue with which to share our love of the Realms.

Greetings, and welcome to these Halls of Knowledge. Just beware the many bards that reside among us. Some of them have voices like Denier's Donkey! Or would that be Milil's mother-in-law...

The Chosen of Vhaeraun
"Nature is governed by certain immutable rules. By virtue of claw and fang, the lion will always triumph over the goat.Given time, the pounding of the sea will wear away the stone. And when dark elves mingle with the lighter races, the offspring invariably take after the dark parent. It is all much the same. That which is greater shall prevail. Our numbers increase steadily, both through birth and conquest. The dark elves are the dominant race, so ordained by the gods." Ka'Narlist of the Ilythiiri.

Welcome to Candlekeep

I'm sure you will find this little haven of the Realms to be very pleasant and enjoyable.....if you can avoid some of the more chaotic of our resident scribes, that is

Well met, Cavendor_Isantiir and indeed welcome to Candlekeep.

Fear not, there is plenty of Realmslore herein and knowledge of the Realms by means of both scroll and scribe. If you can't find it here, then it doesn't exist and ne'er happened
