...and welcoming library.

Hi all. I'm Lady Kazandra, no doubt some of you already know me from the many chat sessions we've had thanks to introductions provided by the Sage.

To others, I'm sure that Sage has talked about me before. You see I'm the "Lady Friend" that he mentions from time to time. I still new to the Realms, although role-playing has been a hobby of mine for many years. Both the Sage and I starting playing in the same Dragonlance campaign about ten years ago, and from there he's helped introduce me to the wide and varied lands of Faerun.

I'm still learning my way around so please bear with me if any of my questions or queries sometimes sound a little too 'easy' to answer. The Sage has assured me though, that this is the best and friendliest place to learn about the Realms so I'm sure to have a blast.

Anyway, that's enough talk for now, I've got some learning to do...

Well met, Lady Kazandra, and welcome to Candlekeep, our most humble library

Ahhh, led here by The Sage eh? Seems like now that hes a well-established Master of Realmslore he is now recruiting new scribes to tackle his workload?!

Anyway, enjoy your stay. I hope you find much Realmslore within these halls. If I can be of any assistance, please feel free to holler (just not too loud, this is a library after all )

Well, we suppose greetings and welcomes are in order to thee.
We are Cardinal Deimos, the Candlekeep's resident lunatic, and... well... we suppose that's about it... oh... and the Chief of Candlekeep's cleaning staff.... a post that was.... rewarded to us for.... our....uhhh... dedication to realmslore... Right Alaundo?

Well anyways, we have heard and tis good to finally meet thee. We hope that thou wouldst enjoy thy stay at the keep. But Being as that you are connected to one of the Masters of Realmslore, we're sure you will...
Welcome to the Keep!

Welcome to Candlekeep, Lady

Keep quite about that Dragonlance background though, Alaundo gets all in a fluster at the mere mention of non-Forgotten Realms

Ah...at last you are here...and using my computer no-less...

Well, greetings to you Lady Kazandra, and welcome to these halls of near-infinite knowledge that we call Candlekeep.

Since you now seem to have access to both the library here, and the small library I have at home, I'm sure you'll never fail to have a question, opinion or thought on some aspect of the Realms. Just be sure to post them here so everyone else can discuss them...

Good learning...

With a fellow such as Sage as thy friend, Access to the Candlekeep and Sage's own personal library, We doubt that she could have any questions... We mean, she knows THE SAGE!!!! What better library could there be than that?...
Hmm Thinking about it know We figured out who Sage Really is. There is only one being so knowledgable of everything, and has a library of their own about practically everything.
Sage, You are Graz'zt, aren't you?

I'm not sure about him being Graz'zt, but the Sage makes a pretty decent looking Asmodeus, especially if you've ever seen the few images of the Lord of the Ninth in 2nd edition Planescape.

Reminds me of the time my brother (Dragon of Justice)'s wife would log on and post things about her husband, yet he figured out she was Whitelyte long after I did. Okay, it's not really the same here . . . it's just that the idea of sneaking on someone's ethereal portal machine while they're away just to get to Candlekeep reminded me of it.

Ah, but I digress. I'm sure that you'll have plenty of opportunity to see that sort of behavior from me, Lady Kazandra. (Alaundo certainly does. )

Hmmm We always figured Sage was a fiend of some sort... we just got the location wrong... No wonder he seems to know so much about the Nine Hells... He runs them!!!!
Ah, we're just joking Sage.... or are we?

Oh I not sneaking . . .. My home is undergoing a series of major renovations at the moment, so I'm spending most of my time at Sage's house. Since we both work different hours, I mainly only use his computers when he's at work, or at the university. Besides, since I don't have access to alot of the 'Forgotten Realms' gaming materials yet, his collection helps me to learn what I need to find my way around Faerun.

I quite agree, although I think his attitudes and habits make him resemble an Arcanoloth more than any demon or devil .

Hmmm, you know, you may be right about that.

Just curious, but your portrait seems to be that of Linu La'neral of the 3rd Edition Neverwinter Nights computer game. Not sure if you were aware of that or not....

Regardless, Welcome to the Keep, friend of the Sage. Hmm, now that you're here, mayhaps Sage will stop putting more and more tomes on my desk.....

I might...

Although, I'm starting to like the idea of having an army of scribes at my command that will head out into Faerun to collect all kinds of Realmslore. It reminds me alot of the second Encyclopedists sect of the 'Chandrahaal'.

See?! See?!
We told you! We said it! We planted the Idea! Finally one who has harkened to our cause! Now that we have a Leader for the Army, we need only recruit more! Yes! Yes! Yes! MWA HA HA HA HA HA! ALL WILL QUAKE IN FEAR OF THE SAGE'S ARMY OF SCRIBES! Not a book left unplundered, not a cooking list left to read!
...

Tis About time someone listened to us about the army. Now to recruit other well known scribes. The greatest threat of Faerun will come from Candlekeep! Ha ha!

Over many a quaint and curious volume of forgotten lore-

Sounds like a great piece of Realmslore itself: the Order of Candlekeep, charged with collecting, preserving, and spreading any knowledge found in the Realms.

Perhaps I'll figure out a minor PrC for that sometime -- I've been itching to do Realms-only PrCs. It'll be a bit tricky to avoid making it a copy of the Loremaster, though.

(I, for one, got annoyed at how the Watchful Order of Magists and Protectors was turned into just a copy of the standard Mage of the Arcane Order PrC. I'm sure I'm not the only one.)

HEHEHEHEHEHEHEHE! The Order of Candlekeep, and now with the resident Wyrm on our side nothing can stop us! Mwa ha ha ha!

Actually if you ever get a PrC like that done We recomend that All keepers take atleast one level in it. DMs everywhere will quake in fear of the new most popular class!

* Rubs his hands together in maniacal glee*

Yes.. things are coming together now... But why spread knowledge? Better to horde knoweldge. Make a real difference from A Candlekeeper to one of the lesser peoples, Waterdeeper, Athkatlanite, Silverymooners, etc. Take knowledge from the realms and horde it here. Let not a written word remain! Thus we would be the most intelligent mortals On toril and therefore the only logical choice for Rulers of the world. Simple really... Just a matter of enslaving the lessers.

To truly halt knowledge, one must first ensure that none ever ask questions. Therefore, the spread of knowledge cannot be stopped or contained. It can only be collected, stored, and taught.
