In some ways a Bard, as they are good at slight of hand. |
"Small beings can have small wisdom," the dragon said. "And small wise beings are better than small fools. Listen: Wisdom is caring for afterwards." "Caring for afterwards ...? Ker repeated this without understanding. "After action, afterwards," the dragon said. "Choose the afterwards first, then the action. Fools choose action first." A low-level illusionist might rely on mundane sleight-of-hand, legerdemain, palming, misdirection, and deception to accomplish what his weak spells cannot. These sorts of skills are often lumped within thiefy Pick Pockets %, and every D&D edition provides some sort of option which could merge illusion and thief class abilities.
2E Player‘s Option: Spells & Magic provided a good nonweapon proficiency for this purpose, allowing Cantrips to be incorporated into staged entertainments.
A bard is an excellent suggestion, provided he learns some spells useful for “stage magic“. |
