Glad to see 5E will have a Starter Set with a simpler and cheaper point of entry. I hope it will be sold at places like Walmart as well.
The PHB's price is a little high compared to what we'ved been used to i agree. The 3E PHB was going for $19.95 and the 4E PHB was going for $34.95. |

I don't expect to see D&D at Walmart outside of novels. But at a gaming/hobby store or at places like Books-A-Million, sure. Boy do I miss Borders though...they had all kinds of D&D stuff, novels and game manuals alike... |

If the 4E red box was sold at Walmart, i don't see why the D&D Starter Set couldn't... |

I never saw it in Walmart, ever. But maybe Canadian Walmarts carry some stuff that American Walmarts don't? |

In WotC's defense... Prices do go up. My original copies of a lot of Dragonlance and FR novels were priced at $2.95 or $3.95. Now you can't always get an ebook that cheaply. |

I didn't see it in Wally World, either... But I have deliberately stopped going there near as oft as I used to, and on top of that, I live in a rather conservative part of the country -- they may have chosen not to carry D&D stuff in this area because of past religious opposition to D&D. |

Yeah talks on EnWorld is that dollar inflation and printing going up could mean that a 50$ PHB is not too overprice in fact. $50 is also the price you pay for most other RPG hardcovers from smaller publishers these days. |

FWIW, Wooly, I live on the top end of the east coast (in Maine, to be specific), so that could be part of why I never saw anything other than novels for D&D in my local Walmarts (I live an hour's travel from at least 5 and can get to a dozen or more in 2-3 hours of driving). I have looked online for Wally World, but they don't show it either. And I only go once a month to get what I need (phone card for my cell phone, prescription, and what I can't buy at my local grocery store/Family Dollar/Rite Aid). |
